About Me

Hi, I'm Karo, 26 years old and live in Düsseldorf, Germany.
I was born in Poland but moved to Germany with my parents when i was 2 years old. Since then i lived in a small town in the west of Germany called Lüdenscheid. Very boring and not very fun :P
So i moved to Düsseldorf after i finished school more then 6 years ago to study architecture. And since this I'm still here.
After i made my master degree in architecture i worked as an architect, but now i will switch business to be a Set Designer. Hope it'll turn out good :)
I'm very open minded, spontanous and easy to handle. That's what my friends always say about me, at least :P I like to meet new people and have some fun. I can't really stand still and have always to do something. But that doesn't mean I can't chill ;) I think I'm a positive human, although I can be a little sarcastic sometimes. But that doesn't last long. I try to look at things not that serious and always in a positive and chilled way. Most of the time problems can be solved somehow. You just have to be open for every solution, even if it's not what you planned :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really like to meet new, cool people. And I think it's the best way to get to know the place you stay. Local people are always the best guides :)

Interests

I love movies, especially everything from Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch. I'm also interested in all kinds of art, design and architecture of course :)
I really love music, so i also visit many concerts and festivals. My favorite german music festivals are Maifeld Derby in Mannheim, Dockville in Hamburg and Melt in Ferropolis. I love listening to all kinds of music, sitting in the warm sun and having a cold beer.
These are my main interests but i like so many different things. It would take to much time to write everything here.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all kind of music, but I'm more into independent music and musicians then to mainstream. My favorite musicians are Son Lux, Arcade Fire, The Libertines, Tame Impala, The Cure, Nirvana and many more. I don't like to reduce to just one or two genres, so i just listen to everything i like.
My favorite movie is Clockwork Orange from Stanley Kubrick. I even dedicated a tattoo on my arm to it. But I also like many other movies. I often go to the cinema to watch new movies and be with my friends. It's one of my favorite places here in Düsseldorf.
I do read books, but i have to admit that i don't read so much as I used to do. So traveling is always good to catch up. My favorite book is the virgin suicides from Jeffrey Eugenides. Very good movie as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are so many amazing things I've done. Even not traveling. But I think one amazing thing was traveling trough south-east Asia and visit Ankor Wat in Cambodia by bike. That was awesome. And learning how to cross the streets in Saigon in Vietnam. That's really not so easy as it seems :)
But I think the most amazing thing was doing the Salkantay trek in Peru and Hike 4 days to the Machu Picchu! It was always a dream to do this and it became one of the best experiences I've ever made!

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn about the places I stay. About all the good and cool spots and things you can do, about the people living there, the typical food (I love food and always want to try new, maybe even disgusting things), the culture and if it works even a little bit the language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could cook some typical polish dishes :) But espacially share stories, knowledge and a positive atmosphere and fun. I really like to share good music and bands, movies and talk about different experiences, especially the ones you make while travelling.
