Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Finishing my Master's degree, working, and finding time for nice stuff in between. Learning to play Dungeons and Dragons (yes, really).
ABOUT ME
I like to get to know new places from the inside... with all their beauty, people, problems and ugly faces too. I like to see what's special about the place you live in.
I'm also usually comfortable with just talking, walking, musing and having a quiet time...
PHILOSOPHY
Let's just say I want to live for another 200 years or so because I am afraid one normal lifetime is too short for all the stuff I want to learn about this world.
I want to do things that I would envy if I were another person and met myself.
I start realizing that not the huge experiences are necessarily what matters, but that the small things are the ones that change parts of who you are. People you meet on the street. Songs you listen to. Pictures you look at. Tiny, quiet things make you think and wonder. I want to keep this in my life because I think it's wonderful.
An excerpt of the things I want to learn:
How to build things (like beds and cupboards and stuff).
Diving.
Sailing.
Playing guitar.
Playing the harp.
A better overview of history.
Business.
Surviving.
Relaxing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hosted a couple of people before my first big journey on my own in the United States. I traveled around for a couple a while and stayed in the SF Bay Area for some time as well. Couchsurfing has helped me a lot (officially and inofficially) and made me feel like I left family behind in every place that I visited. I recently started living in my own place and would consider hosting again after it not being really possible in shared flats. It's a little overwhelming as I used to get heaps of messages since living in Berlin.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My hometown in North-East-Germany is not exactly frequented by Couchsurfers, but I have hosted a couple of people, all of them wonderful. I was lucky enough to meet some of them again from time to time and I'm so happy to have found some new friends through it even though they are not in my life all the time.
I stayed at a couple of peoples places in the US, both official Couchsurfers and just very nice people..:)
Without exceptions, absolutely all of them made my trip super easy, fun and so inspiring. You are good good good people and I love all of you. This has changed my life already and also my confidence and trust in people in general.
I lived in a quieter part of Berlin and hosted some lovely people there and also did some Couchsurfing in Taiwan a couple of years ago. Since then I've changed flats a lot which decreased my mental and actual space for hosting guests, but I feel more open to it since I live alone. I'm more likely to accept requests that seem personal and relate to things I wrote about myself. I don't party and like to have a quiet and relaxed time.
