I think it's a great idea. You can go everywhere you want to, you meet new people, and through that, you get to know the culture in a better way.

Couchsurfing experience so far:
Love it! Travelled my way through California by couchsurfing. The people are so nice. Had a couple couch surfers over at my place, but it's been a while...
