About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To be on Masterchef. Oh, and help refugees.
ABOUT ME
I really like lists so I am going to draw one up of the
Important Things In My Life:
- music: I am a musician and I sing everywhere I go.. this includes public spaces and elevators. I also play the piano and occasionally pretend to strum a guitar. I love to listen to music, go to gigs, play open mic, sing karaoke and enthuse about different styles and genres over a drink with someone.
- travelling: I'm usually happy when I'm somewhere beautiful and I love to discover new beautiful places. Despite always getting attached to everyone and everywhere I go, I get itchy feet all the time and I'm always looking for the next destination on my list. I think Barcelona and Rio are next on the list, after a brief stint in Malaysia later this year.
- the outdoors: being outdoors a lot is really important to me and I never travel anywhere without spending a lot of time walking or cycling around a new place... i also like lazing around in hammocks.
- art: I love to draw and I take photos of things that make me smile. I write when I'm nervous/angry/elated and I want to be a journalist, which will happen once I learn to control my emotions in what I write!
- helping other people: I can't be happy if I'm not helping others, which is why in my spare time I do a lot of volunteering. I am currently volunteering with refugees, in London and soon in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and I hope to continue wherever I go. I also studied Law and hope to do something useful with it one day.
and last but obviously the most important..
- cooking: I LOVE TO COOK. I am also obsessed with tiger prawns and sea food in general. I invite you to come and cook with me wherever I am in the world, it would make me exceedingly happy!
PHILOSOPHY
Well... I live to learn and I suppose one of my my ultimate aims is never to hurt anyone. I try to make everyone happy, with occasionally disastrous consequences, but mostly I just try to see the positive side to everything if I can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
THE OVERSTAY - Bangkok. BEST CS EXPERIENCE EVER. You've got to go there to find out.
Eric Ha's family in Vietnam really took care of us, great times in Hanoi :)
I also hosted several people when I lived in Malaysia, and when in London tried my best to meet up with fellow couch surfers even if I wasn't able to host them. I've only ever had one bad experience, other than that every one I have met has been delightful!

Music, Movies, and Books
You just can't beat Oscar Wilde or Jerome K. Jerome for ridiculous humour, but I like a lot of different things, like Orwell or Graham Greene or Daphne du Maurier.... I especially like Russian novels and proper classics, but I also have a secret soft spot for John le Carre and other exciting contemporary writers (while we're at it, what's all this about 50 shades of grey...??!)
My favourite film of all time remains to be Lost in Translation, which I can't seem to shake.
I do admit to a weakness for Indiana Jones and James Bond, but I am open to most things, except horror movies and unpleasant thrillers.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The night sky one beautifully clear evening when I was lying on a beach on Tioman Island off the coast of Malaysia on a deserted beach - never have I felt so small and insignificant.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you music :) and how to cook! I am also a professional Origami Swan Maker and I teach English on the side.
