Currently back home in Welsh Wales 🏴 ... wanna hang/dog-walk/explore/grab a drink/lunch/smoothie when i'm not working - at the moment I work shift hours but have 2 days off work per week and always try to do something active even if it’s a beach walk at Barry Island or or woodlands near my home with my Springer Spaniel 🐶, Shadow (see “couch” photos for where I can take you in my and around my hometown!) which is only a 25min/£4 train journey from Cardiff centre (See my couch photos for plan) or a 10mins drive from Cardiff Airport (I watch the planes come in over the sea from my house ;) ) . ABOUT ME: The usual.... ;) open-minded, friendly and social, interesting blah, blah, blah.... I like talking but I do actually prefer listening (if it interests me!!). I look serious a lot of the time but I'm not. I'm interested in most things I don't know about, especially new food and interesting people and stories. I was brought up my doting parents and family in South Wales and fell into a job in radio. In 2000 moved away from home and bought a brand new 2-bed apartment in Chester. Worked for a medical magazine publisher and then helped set up a www.realbuzz.co.uk. 5 years later sold my apt and moved to the Big Smoke and worked for an internet sales house in Soho. Good times! After a year got itchy feet and with my eyes closed and a map and pin in hand I chose to travel for 6 months around south India (based in Bangalore, Pondicherry & Chennai). Headed to China but 'fell' into Thailand on the way for a 2 week holiday... which lasted 2 years after a got a job teaching English in a govt. primary school. Time ticked and I turned 29 and realised I still had itchy feet. Travelled to Perth, Australia for a month and then to East Coast (Syd to Cairns) for the next 2 months. Popped over to NZ to see a friend in Auckland. Then came back to Europe as needed to root myself again. After 3 months at home in Wales, in Mar'10 I got itchy feet again and did a 1-month teaching course in Palma. 6 months later I moved to Guadalajara with big dreams and eventually settled in Madrid, Barrio Salamanca for over 4 years, where life was good. After changing career into hospitality i lived and worked in a hostel in Nerja and loved everything Spain gave me. Spent a few months in Puerto Escondido working at a hostel which didn't work out, helped at a friend's fish taco place and then was convinced by 2 Cancun surf dudes to move to Cancun. Stayed teaching English at www.ihmexico.com/ih-schools/ih-cancun/ for around 8 months and had a blast - really got into the lifestyle and beach-life there and even tried kitesurfing which is definitely on my list to try and continue whenever I have the time, money and conditions (I'm a bit of a warm-water lover ;) ). Now back in South Wales and having a career change into Leisure Management and for the moment living back with my folks until I decide where and what my next plan of attack of life is! This is my story so far.... And have been smiling the whole time.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Went to my first event in London way back in 2006 to a random house dinner with www.couchsurfing.com/people/marouen... Then dropped off the cs-map for a few years when in SE Asia. When I returned to Europe I lived in Palma and there I went to A LOT of the 'Thirstdays' and other events in Palma! As I lived with one of the founding Ambassadors: www.couchsurfing.com/people/quiquearias who opened and owned "La Bicicleta" in Malasaña, Madrid. In palma I along with Quique and www.couchsurfing.com/people/pedro_tineo hosted quite a few people. In Madrid I went to quite a few Thursday meeting's. I'd like my guests to show their appreciation by whatever means they think is suitable.... it's a cute way to test your character.... Imagine you're hosting😉
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I found a couch in centre of Palma for 1 month with 2 cool guys and ended up renting for 6 months! Went to quite a few events in Madrid including Wednesday-salsa-night and Thursday-meetings, where I met many friends. Met and hosted quite a few people in Nerja. Mex city surfed with a couple of cool dudes. If you're ever in a place I've been just let me know and I can introduce you to my CS-friendly friends who most likely will be able to host you or at the very least meet up with you and show you their town/city/village ;)
Interests
I love travelling and meeting new, friendly and interesting people who are geniune and trustworthy, open-minded and love food. I like keeping fit by doing yoga, swimming and jogging (whenever I have the energy and its not too hot!) and i love to try all water sports, my favourite is SUP (Stand-Up paddle boarding) although i'm trying surfing and kitesurfing too. I like scuba-diving and snowboarding whenever I have spare cash to do so. Although I do like socialising, whether it be a meal out, walk around town or good glass of wine and good conversation, I do like to be on my own sometimes too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been fortunate enough to see quite a bit of the world, mostly SE Asia and Australasia and so far in my travelling "career" the most amazing time was when I spent a week at a remote village in some hills in Tamil Nadu in-between Chennai and Bangalore where the higher you went up the hills the poorer they got but the happier and friendlier and less "worried" they became. The village people there didn't speak any english and me no Tamil and they practically didn't have anything and lived so simply and were just so poor were willing to give me their last paise. True inspiration for my life from that point on. Just a really spiritual time for me that I'll never forget.
UPDATE: in Feb'16 I climbed Volcano Acatengo en Guatemala at 4000masl. THE hardest physical thing I've ever done. If you've not done it yet... Get ready to face your ego and have a chat! ;) but the biggest feeling of achievement EVER!
