About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To impart a passion for learning and to instill the joys of youth to all who cross my path.

ABOUT ME

Dallas born, Austin raised. Japanese surname, British clan name, Hebrew family name. My tribe drags me out of my mind palace on the daily and I'm most at home on the road. English was my second language, I started banging around on piano at 3, and I write a bit of poetry. I hold open doors, enunciate my words, and keep my thoughts on a leash.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't be good, be great.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a college student who enjoys travel, and I hope to share my couch with those on the road seeking a place to stay! I'm hoping to become more plugged into the community over the next few years so I too may be hosted one day.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no experience with the Couchsurfing community at this time.

Whenever I travel to Jamaica, I stay with family members in Kingston or near Port Antonio. I slept in a traditional Japanese home in Aioi during the month of June 2014 while I passed through the country, and it was the most hospitable stay I've ever had on my travels.

Rule of thumb: skip the resorts, keep it local.

Interests

music production; poetry; latin dance; reading; modern and ancient economics; contemporary Japanese media; the evolution of technology in communication, education, and gaming

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Without a place to stay, I took a recommendation from a local and spent the night in a mountain village outside Gyeongju, South Korea.

Teach, Learn, Share

My Traveling Advice:
One of the more important elements of travel is the dynamic between fellow vagabonds. You may find that, the more time (and money, naturally) you have for your travels, the more varied and exciting your experiences will be simply because you are open to more adventures with people you don't know.

Become comfortable with an unknown itinerary. Prepare your trips with spontaneous encounters in mind. Be open to the idea of arriving in a new exotic locale with a blank slate and plan on a daily basis. You will be surprised by how different your traveling is the less you plan.

When I spent a month in Costa Rica, I met a couple British guys and we traveled for a week across the country together, from the capital to the mountains to the Caribbean coast and even down into Panama. Were I not open to their invitation, I may not have met all of the cool people we encountered along the way.

If you're wise enough to pursue a life of travel, then trust yourself enough to make wise choices – even spontaneous ones. Always be open.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will always be prepared to cook, clean, entertain, and listen to my host. This is more than just finding a place to stay: this is a community of travelers, and sharing is what it's all about.
