About Me

Hello.
My name is Kasane and I am a nurse in Japan.
I am currently backpacking around the world, which is my dream.
We love to travel and spent 4 years touring all over Japan when we were students. The nature, culture, and entertainment we experienced while traveling are of course memorable, but most of all, the memories of the people we met there are our treasures and we still keep in touch with them, sometimes having dinner together and talking about our memories of that time.

This time, we plan to spend a year traveling to 30 to 40 countries, experiencing a lot of nature and culture, and I hope to have wonderful encounters.

Animals are my favorite.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My style of travel is to blend in with the locals, not just visit tourist spots. My past travels have been centered around guesthouses, but when a friend told me about couchsurfing, I wished I had known about it sooner. I think couchsurfing is a great opportunity to get in touch with the locals!
Of course we will try to do as much as we can to share! Anything we have traveled so far or anything about Japan!
Couchsurfing is not only about sharing a couch, but also about sharing memories, knowledge and kindness!
Looking forward to meeting you!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are too many phantastic and irreplaceable events in Japan to describe here, but I will describe here some of the most memorable ones.
We like to feel nature, eat local food, talk to locals, do active things, or just relax in the middle of nowhere.

1) Climbing Mt.Fuji.
Fuji, the largest mountain in Japan, is about 3,700 meters high and small from a global perspective, but it is a dream for Japanese people. Despite the fact that it snows almost all year round near the summit and the climbing season is only about two months in summer, many people, both Japanese and foreign, come to climb the mountain.
We were hit by the temperature difference of more than 30 degrees Celsius between the summit and the ground, and felt headaches and chills on the way up, but we managed to reach the hut near the summit. I still remember the taste of the cup ramen we ate with friends we made on the way up.
After taking a 3-hour nap, we started our ascent to the summit at 2:00 in the morning. I had a headache and chills near the summit, but when I saw the sunrise, I forgot everything and was simply moved by the sight of the sunrise.
It was only a two-day vacation, but it is a memory I will never forget.

(2) Driving Around Hokkaido
When I was a student, I drove 2,000 km around Hokkaido, Japan over a period of 10 days.
Hokkaido is an island in the northern part of Japan, but it is larger than the Czech Republic and about the same size as Austria. From a foreigner's perspective, Hokkaido is often thought of as a winter season, but the best time to visit is in the summer.
We pinned the places we wanted to visit on Google Maps, booked guesthouses and cheap accommodations, and drove at full throttle. We found that we could eat the best melon in the world for only 3 dollars, or camp in the wilderness. Of course there are many tourist attractions, but more than that, Hokkaido is a place where you can enjoy nature in its entirety.
I have so many impressions and memories so strong that it is hard to believe that I spent only 10 days there.

Shimanami Kaido Cycling Tour
There is a large bridge connecting the main island of Japan and the Shikoku region. It is called the Shimanami Kaido and is the most famous cycling road in Japan. It is 80 km long, connects seven islands, and is accessible by both train and road.
Normally, the course takes two days to complete, but we thought nothing of it and decided to cross it in one day. Cycling on a mountain bike over hard uphill and downhill trails can limit your legs and give you a serious sunburn, but when you arrive at the lodge, the hot springs are just as beautiful as the mountains themselves. I can't tell you how many times I almost gave up, but after 13 hours we managed to make it to the finish line.
The goal was in Ehime Prefecture, famous for Dogo Onsen, the oldest hot spring in Japan. It is also famous for being the model for the hot spring in the Ghibli movie Spirited Away.
However, my arms were badly sunburned, so I still have fond memories of bathing in the hot springs with both arms raised.

I also have many other travel memories, such as the story of going to Vancouver penniless and being pickpocketed in Italy, which I will tell you when we meet.
I look forward to meeting you.
