About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I believe most problems in the world are based on lack of understanding of one another. My mission is to break down (my own) prejudices and learn about other cultures and world views. And also to grow a big red beard.

ABOUT ME

I'm 21 years old and from Denmark. I travel alone, but find short term travel partners occasionally. I play the guitar and sing and have recently started busking.

I try to avoid becoming a tourist that only get a superficial idea of the countries I travel. I really want to get a deeper understanding of the mentality of the places I go. To do that I think it's very important to talk to local people rather than the travel agencies.

A few years ago I was very sad with life and felt like I was simply watching my life pass by without participating. I started to live a very conscious life, and began to consider what I expect of life, and what I can do to achieve it. Mixing this determination with spontaneity have turned my life around. I'm going where the wind takes me - but keep an eye on the goal at all times.

I've taken the first few steps towards a spiritual life. I'm looking into meditation, and plan on doing a 10-day-course to learn about Vapassana meditation. Also I try to experience as many religions/lifestyles as possible. Again - I simply want to learn and develop.

PHILOSOPHY

My life is an ongoing process of developing myself as a person. I have ideals about how we should treat any other human being, and I'm trying to teach myself to live up to those ideals. As good old Michael said: "I'm starting with the man in the mirror"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I'm totally new to couch surfing I don't have much to add here yet. However, I want to contribute the best I can to this community, because I think the concept is brilliant. When I eventually return to Denmark and get my own place I will definitely open my home to travelers. All the help people have given me during my travels inspire me to help as much as I can when I'm going to be 'the local' again...

I know CS is not just free accommodation - but rather an exchange. However I can make myself worthy of the hospitality I'm willing to do so.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't have any experience yet, but I've been doing many months of WWOOF'ing and helpx - so I know the importance of respecting the host's ideals and make myself worthy of the hospitality.

I can get references from these people on request!

Interests

Most of all I'm interested in learning. Everything from learning about other cultures to learning how to juggle.

Also, I'm very interested in conversations that enlightens you, make you wiser or simply make you think. Many traveler's I meet only talks about how much they had to drink yesterday and how much they will drink tonight. I need some more substance to feed my brain with. Especially now that I'm not studying. I think it's important to keep the brain going.

I play guitar and sing, so of course this is a big interest as well. I love the small pleasures in life. Like reading a book and watching the night sky.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like many different music genres. Rock, jazz, New age, Easy listening, pop...
I like movies and books that make you contemplate but sometimes it can be relaxing with more simple entertainment as well. Don't watch much TV though - too much mind pollution.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know what to pick out in particular. That's either a very good or a very bad sign. Since I'm very pleased with my life I chose to interpret it as a good sign.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach guitar-playing for a start. Also, I will try to share what I've realized since I started conscious living.
I'd love to learn about yoga, meditation, cooking and whatever else you might have to share.
