Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Kaspars, an innovation dude and musician with a knack for community projects. Currently, I'm exploring the digital world as a Full Stack Developer at Neural DSP, where I build web infrastructure and applications.
My passion for technology extends to mentoring working at universities in Latvia, where I guide med-tech innovations, and as CTO of Tandeems, an Erasmus+ backed digital platform for design competitions. These roles allow me to apply design thinking and innovation in meaningful ways, impacting communities and organizations.
In my free time I make the most of my degree in Philosophy and love for sound. As a host for the music show "NABA Top," I dive into the world of local underground music, sharing my discoveries with an eager (albeit invisible) audience. And sometimes I, myself, also contribute to this music. These endeavors create a balance to my tech-driven career.
I'm excited to connect with fellow Couchsurfers who share interests in technology, music, or just great stories. Let's exchange experiences and maybe even jam!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
You may never know if you're going to lend your couch to your future best friend or land on your future best friend's couch.
Interests
Gaining experience is my pastime, job and calling. I like the distinct notions of empeiria and pathos: roughly, gaining experience as in from practicing and studying and experiencing as in being being 'there', respectively.
I like to think experience with people can't be crammed into the first idea - people are more interesting than bits of information.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love jazz, post-rock and contemporary classical music. I enjoy Steve Reich's music, Mogwai, all of Mark Guiliana's projects (Donny McCaslin, Mehliana, Bowie's Blackstar, etc).
The bookshelf hosts popular-scientific and academic literature in various fields: philosophy, anthropology, cognitive science, etc. Recently I've been discovering poetry.
I'm very open to finding something new!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm narrating an audio book for the blind.
I've gone through quite a lot of madness to get where I am with the book: I had no money, so I earned that book by busking. I came to the book opening, and the publishers were so touched by the literal sack of coins that I brought, they gave one to me as a gift. In order to start the project, I had to borrow a friend's microphone and begin learning sound engineering because the studio the organization offers is usually packed.
I never finished the book because the coordinator retired before I finished, but it kicked off my voice acting side hustle.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you can teach me something, I'm all ears. To me learning is bonding.
As for me, I'm a total nerd, so I'll probably accidentally go into a 10 minute rant about some obscure Philosophy subject.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A dollar, a laugh and - in the spirit of a certain supertramp - happiness.
