About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To create a movement for a sustainable future, bridging the interests of citicens, municipality/government and companies, with its center in Aarhus. Finding a balance between idealism and realism, where most impact is achieved.

ABOUT ME

I am a lively, active, reflecting, ambitious and curious person. I live in a house with 7 friends, where we share food and have a great time. I love drinking cofée, red wine and beers with my friends. I lived two years in India, and feel that traveling is an obsession, somthing I am addicted to. Right now I pretend to study Anthropology, while actually I am working full time creating a network and movement for sustainability where I live. I keep getting too involved in the things I do, so I am practicing the art of sometimes just doing nothing. Its not that I am easily bored, I just keep getting new ideas for things I want to do, so if I dont stop myself, I never get to relax, ever. I see myself as a strong person, but also very sensitive. I often challenge myself to do things I dont dare, trying to learn from it and widen my horizon. Sometimes I think too much about living up to other peoples expectations (only the people I respect), and forgetting my own needs, while at the same time, I often feel an urge to rebel against unjust ideas and systems, and doing the opposite of what people (I dont respect) expect of me. Its weird. Thats me - full of extremes trying to meet.

PHILOSOPHY

Its changing all the time - my personal Philosophy. I spend a lot of time thinking about it anyways. I guess the only permanent philosophy of mine is that things change all the time and are not permanent. Paradox.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed a lot of couches, but live in a house with 7 other people, where people dont really want visitors all the time - they think Im weird because I want to host strangers... But a lot of my friends are hosting people on a regular basis, and then I always show up to meet them and hang out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I always use couchsurfing as much as I can when travelling, and all of the experiences have been great!

Interests

I studied Fashion Design, but now I study Anthropology. I love doing projects, i am very interested in NGO and development work, sustainability, culture, art, music, photography etc. This year, i have been a part of starting up a festival promoting sustainability here in Denmark, and I think that is the sort of things I will do for the next couple of years.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

An experience that made a huge impression on me was being in the most beautiful village in Utarpradesh, India, where most of the villagers ran out of food months before the next harvest. The men would walk to the nearest road construction site, hoping to get a job for less than half a dollar a day - often unsuccesfully. Talking to the women that told us what they where most envious for, was not that we didnt starve, but that we, students from a fancy international school in India, could afford soap so that we could smell nice and look pretty. The greatest problem in the village was an average household debt of around 20 dollars - what i spend going to the movies if I buy popcorn.

These kinds of experiences is what has inspired me to do what I do now:

One of the most amazing things I have done was creating Aarhus Sustainability Festival 2013 with 50 volunteers and around 70 partner organizations and companies, seeing 5.000 people learning about sustainability and exploring sustainable products and services over 3 days, knowing that I was the one who came up with the idea, and now it was reality. And of course, being complimented and thanked by the Danish Minister of Environment, the Mayor of Aarhus and the internationally recognised environmental thinker Michael Braungart for the project, was not so bad either :)

I just love going from idea to reality!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Yoga, Photoshop and Indesign, design in general, project coordination, sowing, etc.

I would like to learn how to not get so involved in projects that I forget listening to myself and my body.

I would like to learn about culture, art, design, sustainability, and ACCOUNTING (believe it or not, I really want to learn this since I suck, and I need it all the time).

Countries I’ve Visited

Angola, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Iceland, India, Kenya, Peru, Tanzania, Venezuela

Countries I’ve Lived In
