Overview
About Me
Full time worker (not for now), uni student (again, not for now) and 'all the time' music, coffee and açaí lover (always).
Mother to two beautiful men (no longer at home).
I'm thankful to have lived in the wonderful city I was born in, yet I have so many others still to explore.
I love great food, good wine and enjoyable conversation.
I'm not a social butterfly but enjoy going out every so often.
Suffered a TBI that changed my world, I decided then and there to fulfil the travel I had always wanted, so the bucket list was dusted off and planning began.
April 2019 edit: Packing to head out on that long term trip around the globe, so no longer available to host 😔, meaning there will be more travel tales to share with all the awesome travellers when I return 🤗 (always a silver lining).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
You're never to old to try something different. I enjoy meeting and helping people, and what better way than through CS.
Over the years I can honestly say I've found the true spirit of what CS was founded on. I've been happy to open my home to a community of like minded people who desire the type of local accommodation that no tour site can recommend, who want to meet others with similar, and different, interests, to share stories, and to experience a new city and culture, however varied or similar to their own.
It is not about freeloading for accommodation, hooking up or treating someones home like a squat. Most people are on CS as they're either travelling on a budget or (if not) simply prefer the company of like minded wanderers with which to spend some time. I've met one or two tight-arses along my journey, but they're in and out quickly so no skin off mine. I've been offered meals or light cleaning in exchange for what I've provided, after which we've sat, talked and laughed about life and travels, and I am happy to say that some of my CS guests have remained 'in contact' friends.
I am looking forward to the same being reciprocated on my long term travels, and that I get to experience our community from the other side.
Interests
I'm passionate about life, laughter and living a happy and full existence.
While I'm interested in many things, there's no 'one' thing that rules my dreams (yet).
- culture
- reading
- music
- science
- travel
- food
- laughter
- humanity
- ancient wisdom
- medical science
- wonders of the world
- art on skin
Music, Movies, and Books
Too much to list here!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
(Two)...had my children, a true miracle.
Next...heading off solo around the globe, a passport, a backpack and me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share my home, where hopefully you'll find comfort and safety in a new city.
Whether it's teach or be taught, I hope to learn something new (as I have done, and am sure will continue to).
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help you with your cooking or household chores. Share stories of travels, life and cultural differences over a walk or a meal.
My time, or not, as it suits the host.
As a host myself, I am acutely aware of the balance between letting people be, to do their own thing in the short time they have in a new city, while equally knowing that some people like to sit and chat about living life in a place different to their own.
