About Me

Hey there dear CS people,
I am Kat from Finland. I have been a travelling nomad since November2022. I travelled to Thailand, India and Malaysia and now I am living in Australia on a working holiday. I am currently traveling with my partner and we are planning to travel back to Asia in spring 2024.

I believe in the life philosophy of sharing things and mutual learning rather than us humans being separated from each other. That's why I am looking to connect with locals to have more meaningful time while traveling the world! As a person I am open-minded, warm, thoughtful and creative. I always seek to learn from different perspectives and try to find extraordinary things to embrace around me, but I am definitely not blind to all the human and environmental suffering either. I am also always very keen on understanding more and learning about indigenous cultures.

I am a big lover of food and cooking (mostly vegetarian), animals and all things nature and plants. I feel especially connected to the water element 🌊 Besides this I recently graduated as a Yoga and Sound healing teacher. So I would love to share some practices and tools if you're up for it. Or just to chill out or try some new activities as well! 🌞☘️

My future dream is to co-create a conscious community/space in nature that combines different aspects of healthy living such as spiritual and creative practices, nutritious food and natural healing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy travelling in a way that I get to meet and stay with local people as well as other travellers. I think it allows me to have more authentic and down to earth experiences. And to make real connections around the world, how cool is that!? And I hope one day I'll be living in some beautiful place and opening my doors for other travellers too.

I would be super happy to explore places and nature, share stories and transfer knowledge together with my host(s).

And happy to meet other travellers and very keen on doing some road trips around Australia (especially WA) this year or beginning of 2024. Drop me a message if you have similar plans! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Japanese animations from Studio Ghibli. My absolute favorite is Spirited Away, a story that is a perfect mixture of mystery and personal growth. I also love to read and watch things that are connected to self-development, the mind and trauma and natural ways of healing emotional and physical ailments. But on some days I just want to watch something light and funny, like "How I met your mother". Balance is the key hahah!

Some other tv faves:
Black Mirror, Atypical, Heartstopper, The Good Place, Handmaids tale, Hunger Games, Skins, Stranger Things, Sex Education

Teach, Learn, Share

Teachings in Yoga (hatha, yin and restorative), Meditation, Art making, Ayurveda knowledge, cooking and baking, cultural and language exchange (Finnish, English, Spanish), skiing instruction..

I am open to learning basically anything new, but especially something about local cultures, cuisine, traditions and traditional medicine, permaculture and eco communities, animal protection/sanctuary work, arts as therapy as well as entrepreneurial/business skills. 🙏

What I Can Share with Hosts

Company for (deep) conversation, sightseeing, chilling, hiking, animal watching etc
Shared yoga + meditation practice
Cooking and baking different foods, sharing meals together
Helping out with daily tasks at home
