About Me

My name is Kat, I come from a small town in northern Croatia

I'm trying to solo travel across Europe, mostly by hitchhiking, train hopping and walking. In my free time i like to explore roofs and abandoned buildings.

I usually keep to myself, but don't mind talking and/or making new friends. If a conversation is something you wish partake in expect a lot of fun facts, mostly about trains. xD

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When traveling I dislike only seeing the touristy places, I would like to experience a bit of the local life, it seems this is the place to do just that. Also the locals know all the best kebab places.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a punk that also likes metal sometimes, and is quite active in the local punk and metal scenes (here those two are largely overlaped).

Local bands I love: Pankreas, Mašinko, Gužva u 16-ercu, Antitodor
Non local bands I love: Fit to Work, Gaylord, TRANSISTRRR (rip 2024), Calculated chaos
You are more likely to know some of these though (who i also like): NOFX, SOAD, The Exploited, Against Me!

Favorite movie of all time: Runaway Train, 1985

I like reading, especially political theory, I'm currently reading "The Shock Doctrine" by Naomi Klein. I'd say that the most thought provoking work i have ever read was "How to blow up a pipeline" by Andreas Malm (not actual instructions lol), I highly recommend it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Helped to reforest bushfire struck areas of Dalmatia as a volunteer.

Teach, Learn, Share

Wide array of interests, from electrical engineering and ham radio to social sciences politics. Speaking of the latter, I like to learn about the local politics of your region, as that is a sort of special interest of mine.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll be respectful of you and your boundaries (I hope to receive the same treatment). I can help around the house with cleaning and such and I'm also here if you need help running errands.

Small home repairs and installations are something I'd say I'm quite good at, so if you have a clogged drain or a light fixture that needs to be installed I can help.

I can share some of my country's authentic food recipes, even though cooking is not one of my finest skills.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia
