Overview
About Me
I'm currently working online, and am taking advantage of the opportunity to travel. I've been so homesick for Scotland the past few years that I'm working on moving back for further studies.
I have an insatiable wanderlust, and have been to 40 countries so far, and only narrowly escaped being eaten by crocodiles- or at least that's my interpretation of events. I've been told I have a knack for getting out of sticky situations, but I suppose that must mean that I also a knack for getting into them in the first place.
In this day in age, I think it's probably necessary to state that while I'm American I'm very liberal politically. Please don't hold Trump's malicious buffoonery against me!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I did some couch surfing in Eastern Europe, and Russia and fell in love with it! I've met some incredible people on here, both abroad, and when I was living in France or Virginia. When I moved to Ireland on my own, I found that the "hangouts" was a great way to meet new people and plan excursions.
Interests
Reading, Whisky by the fire, Spelunking, Diving, Backpacking, watching the bats swirl around the Indonesian dusk.
I'm bookish, but like an adventure. I love to meet new people, and can happily chat to anyone.

Music, Movies, and Books
-Music-
I love to grab a drink and listen to a live local gig. I've adore gritty New Orleans ragtime, Appalachian Bluegrass, and Folk music, especially from Ireland and the UK. In fact, my brothers have an Irish/Scottish/Cajun folk band, and I used to dance for their gigs occasionally when I was in better practice. Otherwise, I tend to listen to the folksy side of the Indie music spectrum, or anything that makes me want to dance.
-Movies-
I'm a bit of a cinephile, and will go to the cinema to watch just about anything, simply for the joy of being there... and the abundant snacks. If I have my choice, I like quirky Independant comedies. Some of my favorites are What We Do In The Shadows, About Time, Secret Life of Walter Mitty, or anything by Wes Anderson- particularly Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Life Aquatic.
-Books-
Also a bibliophile. I love dark, moody historical fiction and magical realism. I recently read Name of the Wind and loved it, though it's not my usual choice of genera. My favorite author is possibly David Sedaris. Right now I'm reading his new one- Calypso.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent a couple of weeks in the Russian forest howling for wolves.
