About Me

ABOUT ME

I am Katrin, Kati, Kaddy, Kitkat, Kat.. since I know many poeple around the world I have different names everywhere.
I was born in Berlin, the capital and in my opinio the best town of Germany. I lived there until I was 12. Then I moved to Bonn, the old capital of Germany.
And finally, when I started studying medicine, I moved to Düsseldorf, a nice city at the River Rhein, where I still live.
I am an open-minded person, always interested in new cultures and languages and travelling.
At home and on my journeys, both, I like to make music, do sports and hang out with friends, make long walks in the nature or in town, I love cooking and baking, I enjoy sleeping and at the same time I really like dancing and go out at night...

PHILOSOPHY

A day without laughing is a lost day!!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The first couchsurfing experience I had was when I spend one year in Spain and just looked around here to meet some people.
My first "spending the night on someones couch" was the first day of my four-month stay in Istanbul.
After that I slept on a couch in Guadeloupe, there I also experienced great hospitality!
Thats it so far, I hope to get to know more people out there in many different countries.
I have slept on many more foreign couches though, but all privately organised by friends and family and not by this great website.. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 8th grade I took part in an exchange program with Polish students. I never experienced such host friendlyness!!! The brothers and sisters slept in their parents beds just for us having our own room to sleep in. The father printed out some German words to say "Good Morning!", when I walked into the kitchen..

After school, when I was 19, I travelled to Russia, Sibiria. I worked in a work camp, we built a walking path. I lived in Sibirian host family and was able to see what life is like without running water, a bed which was only a piece of wood and a toilet which was only a hole in the ground. I have to tell you: Life was amazing in these circumstances!

The third trip I have to mention is my trip to Israel, where I first travelled all on my own. Well, actually I didnt travel all on my own, because you get to know people from all over the world so quickly!

My Erasmus year in Granada, Spain is one of the happiest I had in my life. It is one of the best places on earth. Everyone should go there at least once in life time!!!

And dont let me forget to tell you about Istanbul, its people, its life, its differences - I love it! I spend four months there for an internship in a hospital, I learned Turkish, made many friends and their families, its incredible how guest friendy people can be although very diefferent from their believes, lifestyle etc...

Teach, Learn, Share

People who share their couch with me can be sure to have a fun person in their house, who wants to share her experience in different cultures and who can definitely tell quite a lot interesting German stories.
I would also sing German lullabies or bake some real German bread for breakfast..
