About Me
ABOUT ME
As my name says, I'm Kat from Aus!
Nearly 6 years ago I packed my life into a backpack and set off for Europe with the intention of staying 6 months. 2 years later I came home broke as anything, but with more memories, friends and experiences than any amount of dollars could have got me, and I was so much richer for it.
Since then I've lived one year in the South Island of New Zealand, and spent another year in Latin America.
Last year I hitchhiked over 4000km across two countries alone, through the worlds driest non polar desert. Lived for 2 months in the Peruvian Amazon. Spent $50 bucks in a month negotiating free travel from the bottom to top of Colombia. Taught myself a language. Walked over 200km alone with a little dog through the sacred valley of Peru. Fulfilled a long time dream of travelling solo across Iran. Drove a van around Europe. Did some farm work in the middle of nowhere in California for a few months.
But now I'm on another adventure- adjusting to stationary student life haha. I'm now back in my home town, Adelaide, studying International Development and Anthropology. (SURFERS: I've only JUST moved into a place where I'm in a position to host, I will be hosting once I'm back from my next trip, promise!)
About me? I live in the same way that I laugh: openly, happily, without hesitation, and sometimes a bit too loudly. I'm passionate about whatever it is that I'm doing and nothing thrills me more than venturing into the unknown. Meeting people and talking with them is the best way to learn. What could be more important when trying to know a country, than meeting it's people?! And besides, I THOROUGHLY ENJOY IT!
Overall, I'm very open minded. I stress less and laugh more. I like fun and I love a cold beer or a glass of wine and any time is a good time for a nice meal.
It should be mentioned as well that I am well known for finding myself in accidental, ridiculous, and sometimes unfortunate situations, and I could be described as wild...always makes for a good story though!
PHILOSOPHY
"It isn't privilege or pity
That I seek
It isn't reverence or safety
Quick happiness or purity
But
The power to be what I am
A woman
Charting my own futures."

Music, Movies, and Books
There are a lot, in no way alike and certainly influenced by an ever evolving taste. I'm VERY interested to share music (foreign especially), and art.
I guess to name a few long standing favorites:
Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Pink Floyd, Bonobo, Fat Freddys Drop, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, The Angelcy, Crowded House, A Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, #1 Dads, Son Lux, Andy Murphy, Moderat, LCD Soundsystem, Milky Chance, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Little Dragon, Stormae, TV on the Radio, Andy Murphy/Chet Faker...
Old stuff, new stuff, Hip hop, acoustic, D&B, psy-trance, electronic, ska, jazz, rap, big band...I like it all and I'm very open to new & especially live music!
