About Me

I'm trying not to stay in one place for too long and to see and do as much as possible! But I've been putting serious travel on hold for a while to pursue a dream of becoming a research ecologist. (New Zealand helped me realize this dream.)

I believe people need to be genuine, compassionate and reasonable. It's the best way to live life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because what's the point of travel without spontaneous friendship and conversation?? :)

I also want to meet locals and get a feel for what it's actually like in Australia!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I graduated from high school, I went to New Zealand, alone, with next to no money, for a year. Every day was an amazing, beautiful, horrifying adventure and it's a huge part of who I am today. In that year, I hiked my first summit, swam with dolphins and in the ocean for the first time, spent some days not knowing where I'd sleep next, saw whales for the first time and in their natural habitat, managed a fundraising team, participated in direct actions against deep-sea oil drilling, bungy jumped, sky dived, zorbed, high-wire walked, cliff-jumped, slept in caves on the ocean, white-water rafted, and through-hiked in amazing forests and mountains for three months. I fell deeply and irrevocably in love with the natural world and the science behind its processes and networks; now I'm pursuing that love through academia!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you anything you've ever wanted to know about biology and ecology!! And how to live life in harmony with natural ecosystems and the other organisms around us.

I'm learning Dutch right now!
