About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I recently trained as a nurse so I haven't been travelling so much, but I like to explore when I can and get off the beaten track. If it's got mountains, beach and trails all in one (with a glass of wine at the end of the day) I'm in! CouchSurfing has allowed me to meet some great like minded people and I hope it continues :)

ABOUT ME

I'm from Shenfield, a town close to London. I've had the opportunity to have internships in both Germany and Sierra Leone which were great as I love to travel to new places and experience new cultures. I'm very open-minded, and I'll try anything once (I prefer to experience for myself to make my own mind up instead of relying on someone else's opinion).

PHILOSOPHY

There is no such thing as an absolute.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Meet up with other couchsurfers to get to know people when I move/visit somewhere new. Unfortunately it's hard for me to host as my parents are not too keen on it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed for the first time on my way back from Christmas, who knew trains don't run past 8pm! So I was very grateful a Couchsurfer gave me a place for the night. A great experience, can`t wait to surf again and to get my own place so that I can host myself. I've also surfed in Lausanne and Brussels But before I even knew of Couchsurfing, I hosted a friend I met in Budapest at my parent's place near London for the night.
I've made some good friends through Couchsurfing and haven't had a bad experience yet. With the best surprise being jet skiing in the Arcachon Basin :)

Interests

Love travelling, and it's so much better from a locals perspective, off the beaten path :)

I enjoy the outdoors, walking around the countryside (especially when I lived halfway up a hill), meeting new people and hanging out. I like listening to the radio, and singing along in the car. I also enjoy cycling, swimming, hiking, ice skating and skiing. Recently started camping and I've found I like sleeping outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are so many films that I still have to watch. Name one and I probably haven't seen it. Don't get me wrong, I like watching films, but I tend not to sit around watching them too much.

Books are more my thing, sitting in a comfy chair in the warmth of the conservatory and finishing a book in a day! (Leaving Time by Jodie Picoult) I read Catch 22 and thought it hilarious, it had me in tears so much! Clockwork Orange and the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo were good reads too. I used to read a lot more, so I need to start reading on my commute again. Any suggestions are appreciated :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in Sierra Leone I lived with a local family , cooking with charcoal outside when there was a fuel shortage. Like all opportunities, I tried to get the most out of my time there and experience as much of the culture and country as I could. They have some amazing beaches that aren't yet spoilt, with some even more amazing islands if you can get to them. Transportation included poda podas (minivans), communal taxis and acadas (motorbikes) down potholed roads to get around. Freetown and it's people has so much to offer

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been au pairing in France to learn French as I want to have a second language, because it's important to me not to always be reliant on others to know and speak English with me. So if you can teach me some French, or your language, in return I can practice your English, whistling with acorn cups and how to bake fairy cakes. I can share my experiences in Sierra Leone and the crazy things that I saw there. I can also share recipes, and tips for where to go in the UK that are missed by most.

Countries I’ve Visited
