About Me

I think there is something exhilarating in going somewhere you've never been before and where absolutely noone knows you at first. I like getting lost, but I don't like to be late, so I really only get lost when I have sufficient time for it. 😅

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is a genius way of travelling and meeting locals. I stay at hotels all the time for my job, and it gets sort of soul-suckig... I am more than satisfied with a couch, in fact, any relatively level surface will do, as long as I can keep travelling. I like to learn about your culture, but I also respect my own, and like to talk about it with those interested.

(Dear misguided, confused people: please know that CS i not a dating site. If that's what you are looking for, please just do not agree to host/meet me.)

Interests

ARGENTINE TANGO. Never travel without my danceshoes.

I also enjoy being outdoors in nature, swimming, hiking, almost anything active that makes you feel alive after months spent in lecture halls. However, I also appreciate cultural programmes, museums, concerts, ballet and opera.

Music, Movies, and Books

Opera, tango, Hungarian alternative, depending on my mood and where I am and what I'm doig.

For movies, I liked Mr Nobody, The Darjeeling Express, The Help, The Devil's Advocate, Mamma Roma...

Absolutely LOVE Oscar Wilde and Szerb Antal. Recently, I've been mostly reading Fitzgerald, Orwell, Huxley, Hemingway. When it comes to poetry, Edwin Morgan, József Attila, Fodor Ákos.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Horseback riding on the Great Plain in Hungary at dawn.
Real Finnish sauna in a cabin in the middle of a pine forest, complete with swimming in the icy lake by moonlight.
Night hike in the mountains.
The opera festival in Verona.
Redentore night in Venice.

Teach, Learn, Share

Surprisingly, many people I met abroad asked me to teach them Hungarian words/phrases, which is quite fun to do, even if you never actually use it. And I will definitely teach you how to pronounce 'Budapest' correctly, even if you don't want me to. :)
(I can also teach maybe tango basics, though I'm not a teacher.)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think traditional food is about the best thing to share with someone, so I can cook you something from home if you like to try new dishes.

Countries I’ve Visited
