About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to keep on changing and learning (and party like crazy along the way)

ABOUT ME

Every year I look back and feel like I'm a drastically different person than I was before. At the same time I feel I'm more the person I want to be. I like books, hikes, 40 ozs, rolled cigarettes, bikes, slinging coffee and/or wine, improving my sweet knife skills in the kitchen, African jazz, 80s electro disco, dancing awkwardly (for everyone), tank tops, cutoffs, mad dog mimosas, and road trips (duh). One day I'd like to create my own small publishing company. For now I'm thinking about buying an Airstream, or whether I can spend next winter in a hand built shack.

PHILOSOPHY

To make myself a better person every day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been lucky enough to find great people who've let me use their space as a place to lay my head. In return, please ask me for the same. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Geeeez, my fiend who turned me on to CS used to run our place like a hub of activity. I never really put in my part until recently, when it's connected me with some of the best times and most open people I've ever come across. It's amazing to really see just how great a lot of people you might not otherwise meet really are.

Interests

language, horticulture, painting, books, dumpster diving, cooking, unique/exotic recipes, generally saving/ not wasting money, CSAs, loosely following politics, fancy beers, $3 wine, running, goofing off, bicycling around, lakes, swimming holes, Saturday morning croquet, local vendors, being naked on hot days, music boxes, watching old films and Uncle Buck on 8 retro tvs in my living room

Music, Movies, and Books

authors: Camus, Carson McCullers, Ishmael Reed, William Burroughs, Salinger, Milan Kundera, Henry Miller, Don DeLillo, Edward Abbey, Jerry Rubin, Etheridge Knight, William Gibson

music: synthy stuff, jazzy stuff, post-punk whiny stuff, rocky stuff, rappy stuff, classical stuff, stuff by phonematicians, soulful stuff, and probably a whole lot more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I dumpster dove at Dollar General one time and came home with 17 inflatable pool animals, 3 of them lived in my shower for a week. 2 sharks remain in the living room.

Another great find was 40 lbs of bagels!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have an especially strong interest right now in cooking with exotic ingredients and in sustainable agriculture. Also in Russian, Spanish, and Japanese.

I can show you how to make scraps of garbage into treasures, or how anything can be a flask.
