About Me

From way up North in Ontario , Canada. I love to travel and experience new places, sights, foods, beers, etc. I'm currently pursuing my MA in Medieval Literature; ask me about Chaucer!. I'm generally pretty laid back and easy to get along with.

I’m not always able to host due to my crazy schedule but ask away and I’ll do what I can :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet fab people and experience the city how a local might experience it. And, on the reverse, to give wonderful people a place to stay while they're travelling and show them a little bit of my home town.

Interests

Well, obviously I like reading and history. I also like new adventures, meeting new people, strolling through historical districts, beer tastings, art, whiskey, medieval books, chocolate, outdoor markets, and vintage clothing.

Music, Movies, and Books

it's easier to choose a favourite book than a favourite author.
"Gone with the Wind" - Margaret Mitchell
"Pillars of the Earth" - Ken Follett
"I Know this Much is True" - Wally Lamb
"The Canterbury Tales" - Geoffrey Chaucer

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skied in the Rocky Mountains and didn't pass out at 13,000 feet from lack of oxygen! (It's the small victories that count)

Wrestled competitively and at a varsity level for 7 years - Canadian National Bronze Medals in 2011 and 2012.

Hung out with, handled, and read 600 year old books in the British Library.

Solo toured the UK for three weeks.

Stood in the mouth of an active volcano in Nicaragua.

Hung out in a cage in some freezing cold, murky as hell waters so some sharks could get close enough to scare the bejeesus out of us.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you all about the wonders of Thunder Bay and, if you're interested, how awesome Chaucer and his social poetics were.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Awesome Canadian slang.
Fun facts about history and literature.
Maple syrup candy.

Countries I’ve Visited

Costa Rica, England, Ireland, Mexico, Nicaragua, Scotland, South Africa, United States
