Hi Everyone! My name is Kate, and I'm from San Diego, Ca. I'm 30y/o and am a full time student. I am currently working on my Bachelors Degree for Marine Biodiversity & Environmental Conservation, with a main focus on the study of Sharks. I absolutely love school, as it has opened doors I never could've imagined.
Of course, majoring in Marine Biology means I love nature, specifically the Ocean and Marine Life.

I run a conservation group here in San Diego called the Green Beach Movement, and I specialize in conducting local environmental clean-up project and public education. I go around and visit schools and groups of younger children and educate them on the importance of our Oceans health and the importance of protecting our Marine life. I think educating the next generation is crucial in ensuring a healthy future for our planet.

When school isn't consuming my life (in a good way) I spend the rest of my time seeking adventure where I can find it. Living at the beach my whole life means its normal to hop on a kayak or jet ski and spend the day on the water, or go hiking up one of the many amazing trails we have around here. San Diego is great, and I am grateful to have grown up here, but I know there is so much more to discover out there!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couch surfing because I have spent the last 5 years as a full time college student without taking 1 break in between. Now that I am working on my second College degree, it's time to take my education on the road! I began an account on here to hopefully travel to places where I can increase my education and experience. And I love meeting new people!! :-) Then when I'm home, I look forward to being a host again! Always fun to introduce people to my home town!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every time I get in the open Ocean with a Shark, or a Whale, or pod of Dolphins, or Turtles etc... It's a new amazing adventure!!

I educate the public on the importance of our Ocean and Marine Life's health, so ask me! The ocean is my life, and it's protection is my goal!

I really love learning about other peoples cultures, and their traditions growing up. Everyone's different, and everyone has a story.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am an awesome roommate, if I do say so myself :-) I am a great cook, and laughing is my favorite thing to do. I hail from a very large funny Italian family. I love nature, so we can go on adventures together! And meeting new people is always a fun adventure all in its own... Wanna go hiking? Sure! Kayaking? Lets Go! Movies? Sounds good to me. I'm sure we'll find great adventures to do together!
