About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live life to its fullest and make things just a little bit better.
ABOUT ME
I'm a really caring and trusting person. A dreamer, if you will, or an idealist. Several close friends have a key to my home so they can lock up when leaving, or let themselves in when I'm not home. My friends are more like family to me than anyone else. I make it a point to keep in touch with them, and hang out whenever we have the chance.
I am a firm believer that if you burn a steak, you've ruined the meat. I don't think I could be a vegetarian, but I do applaud those who are. I love to cook, but hate seafood. I'm always looking for new recipes to try or change up.
I'm a total procrastinator, I don't need money to have fun, and I'm usually really spontaneous. Road trips are awesome, and I'd do them more often if I could afford it. I love flying, or being on a boat, or just traveling in general. Nothing's more exhilarating than the possibility of getting away from things, even just for a little while. Getting stuck in traffic is one of the most irritating things to me!
Music is a huge part of my life. I believe that it's a universal language, vital to living. I read constantly, too. Anything and everything. You'll rarely see me without a book.
I took two years each of Spanish and Japanese in high school, and managed to forget more than I'd like. I'm not athletic-- I enjoy hiking, swimming, dancing around a fire, and getting sunburned, but I don't enjoy playing sports. I do, however, love staying up late. I feel more productive when it's dark, and I really enjoy the calmness of it all.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm a bit old-school-- peace and love. ^^
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
You need a place to crash for a bit? Just ask. Unless I've got somewhere to be that's completely unavoidable, you're welcome here! I participate by helping any way that I can.
Interests
Singing, driving, cooking, drinking, reading, traveling, drumming circles, bonfires, and getting out of the city are all great!
Right now, I'm taking time off of school to save up some cash. I've got bills to pay off, my car to keep running, and I'd ideally love to save up enough money to travel for a while.
I work full-time (mostly evenings) at a used-book store, and I absolutely love my job. Every single day is something new and (usually) enjoyable, and the people I work with make it all worthwhile.
I'd really love to open a no-kill shelter, once I'm able to. It's a plan I've had for a while.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
Anything but rap and country. I prefer something I can sing to, though.
Shows:
Doctor Who, Tosh.0, True Blood, Grey's Anatomy, Weeds, Californication, Torchwood, Firefly, and CSI:NY.
Movies:
Across The Universe, August Rush, Pan's Labyrinth, Trainspotting, Watchmen, Serenity, Boondock Saints, Religulous, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Moulin Rouge, RENT, A Clockwork Orange, and Mirrormask. Stardust was excellent, but not as amazing as the book. I'll add more as I come across them.
Books:
George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice And Fire series, for definitely. Other favorite authors include, in no particular order: Tolkien, Warren Ellis (fuck yeah Transmet), Vonnegut, Mercedes Lackey, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Charlaine Harris, Stephen King. Mostly fantasy, though I have about ninety manga sitting on a shelf as well. My shelves also include a copy of Seumas MacManus's The Story Of The Irish Race, and Growing and Using Healing Herbs by Gaea and Shandor Weiss, among others. I'll read just about anything that I haven't already read, though-- I'm not really picky. Recommendations are always welcomed!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've hiked to the top of a glacier in Alaska, and kayaked with whales. I've stood ten feet from an elk in Denali, leaped across a six-foot-wide bonfire, jumped into a pond in the middle of the night in November to go swimming, driven thirteen hours to visit friends on a whim, wrestled with a litter of six-month-old half-wolf pups, helped a horse give birth (and helped several litters of kittens, too), and slept in my car more than once while traveling. And you know what? I still wish that I've had more adventures.
