About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Break away from anything resembling 'normal.'

ABOUT ME

I've come a bit late to couchsurfing, but I appreciate the principles of trust and the celebration of differences that seem inherent to the concept.

I enjoy people who are open and engaged and curious and quirky...which, coincidentally, also describes me pretty well (I hope).

I think there is beauty in every place (even Schenectady) and all people if you look deeply enough, and I'm constantly striving to see the world more honestly.

I appreciate the little things in life - quiet contemplation, a good cup of coffee, a game of pool, a punk rock show, a well prepared meal... I'm generally up for just about anything.

PHILOSOPHY

Be honest, especially with yourself.
Be kind, as much as possible.
Own less, live more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've attended events in the area with a great group of local couchsurfers, and hope to do some surfing soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Zilch.

Interests

writing, reading, talking philosophy and simple living, vegetarian cooking, communing with nature, music, meeting new people, and probably dozens of things that haven't been invented yet.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Uncorked, Galaxy Quest, Pitch Black, Food Inc.

Music: Nickel Creek, Anti-Flag, Rachmaninoff, Blue October

Books: Rainer Maria Rilke (anything!), Diaries of Anais Nin, Demian by Hermann Hesse, Walden by Thoreau, Jhereg by Steven Brust, Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen the vast expanse of stars and milky way in the absence of city light; I have brought a newborn pup to life with my breath; I have had days full of awe and pain, and lived to tell the tale. It all seems pretty amazing from here.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to share my passions for cooking and reading and thinking and writing. I would love to learn more ASL. I want to be able to create physical things - right now I work in words, but I would like to be able to build in the physical world, as well.
