About Me
**READ ME!**
That's all folks! See you in England!
****************************************
Hi! I'm Kate-30, originally from the UK but I've been living in Nelson for the last 5 or so years. As a travel agent, I work hard with long hours and I love relaxing in the evening. I'm easy going and quite quiet, but love meeting people from all over the world and sharing my little hippy nest!
I'm an outdoor smoker, and not really a drinker. I live for music, love to read and potter in the veggie plot.
My house isn't massive, but has everything you could possibly need, including a cat that thinks it's a dog...she's a bit of a nutter, but in the best possible way. Most surfers end up trying to steal her...!
You'll have your own room (with a heater for the cold months) - ditch the sleeping bag while you're here-I will provide clean towels and bedding for your stay :)
I've got an adorable (currently messy...) garden at the base of the bush in a little valley. Birdsong galore :) Quiet and peaceful, but just 10-15 minutes walk from the city centre. And if you feel like doing some weeding you're more than welcome to ;)
I love hosting all types of surfers, but please keep in mind that my job means that I am away from home for a few days each month, sometimes at last minute.
I receive a lot of requests, so to stand out from the crowd please don't send a generic message. A few lines about yourself and why you'd like to stay with me in particular will make all the difference, and I'd much rather know a little about who I am hosting!
**Please keep in mind that my house isn't a hostel - I love to get to know the people I am hosting.**
Look forward to meeting you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The hours I work make it hard for me to socialise outside of the office, and I've met the most incredible people through hosting.
I have been a backpacker for most of my adult life, and I understand how much a real bed, with real bedding, real towels and somewhere to unpack can mean. I've hosted a lot of surfers and every single one has been wonderful.

Music, Movies, and Books
Oh.....such a hard question! I love most movies, but don't do horror or gore. I enjoy lot's of music-oldies, acoustic, some recent stuff....as long as the lyrics are good I'll give it a go! I also suffer with a not so secret obsession with musicals...
I read anything and everything, and love getting lost in a good book.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmm...what to pick? I've done a few crazy things, but I think back packing around San Francisco, Nicaragua and New Zealand (before I moved here!) on my own was my favourite. I'm still in touch with a lot of the people I met while I was away, and it's shaped the person I am today :)
Update - I saw orca in the wild. In Canada. That trumps everything else. Ever.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Travel stories, travel tips and a love of this beautiful county :)
I want to give backpackers somewhere to relax and unwind - even if it's just for a day or two. The markets in Nelson are fantastic, and I live just across the street from the Centre of New Zealand- an awesome walk over the hills.
Unpack, relax and feel at home... and please don't steal my cat ;)
