Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a number of couch surfers at my home in Montpelier (in addition to having a variety of housemates over the years), and had my first surfing experience in Colorado.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS experience while at a conference in Aspen was grounding, allowing me some insight into the people who actually live there despite the fact that it seemed to be a bizarre place filled with too much wealth. We have hosted over a dozen couchsurfers in the past few years; two of them even ended up moving into the apartment next door! (they were in town looking to move to Montpelier).

Interests

Things I like to do: cooking, gardening, reading, crafting, building things, fixing up my old house.
Things I think about: green building, renewable energy opportunities, triple bottom line business, local food systems, resilience

Music, Movies, and Books

I read. A lot. I subscribe to at least a dozen periodicals which might give you some insight into the kinds of things I'm interested in: Orion, Mother Jones, Northern Woodlands, Fine Homebuilding, Cook's Illustrated, Utne Reader, Eating Well, Old House Journal, Fine Woodworking...
Music taste leans towards contemporary folk, singer songwriters, bluegrass.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Growing food= always amazing to me. Building furniture, from scratch.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always happy to share my expertise, whether it's on baking bread, green building, organizational leadership, making pickles, skiing, knitting, Quickbooks... well, just ask! Things I would love to learn: cooking different ethnic foods (esp. Ethiopian, Vietnamese, Indian), always looking for people to practice languages with, or someone who can teach me to play the concertina.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Puppy love... we have a new canine member of our household named Josie.
She pretty much has free reign of the house so if you are allergic this might not be the best spot for you.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Sweden, United States
