ABOUT ME

I'm easy going. I'm always down to go and do something: be it going on a trip, museum, or just going out to dinner and talk. I love hearing about other people's lives and sharing my own experiences. My friend just told me I am "a ray of sunshine". Basically, I'm just enthusiastic and nothing gets me down.

PHILOSOPHY

One rule I live by is: Never let the sun set on your anger. I have yet to break this rule.

I believe in enjoying my life, appreciating every day, and making sure that my existence is actually benefiting others.

Interests

The outdoors are just bliss for me. I ski, backpack, hike, kayak, what-have-you. I love learning about international affairs. Plus I'm kind of a history geek. But more than anything, what makes life amazing is meeting people. I like to learn people's stories. At the moment, I'm trying to cook a meal from every country in the world in alphabetical order. I've done 25 so far. Algeria was probably my favorite.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am pretty eclectic on all three of these topics.

I enjoy films like The Best Years of Our Lives, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, the Kings Speech. Quirky flicks like Sita Sings the Blues. I've recently gone through a Iranian film kick- if you haven't watched any, do it! Lest you think I'm too pretentious, I have a soft spot for action, and in particular superhero movies.

I like Rock music throughout many decades and changes. I'll listen to the Grassroots, then Green Day, then Creedence. My favorite artist is Harry Chapin, for his interesting lyrics and voice.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I recently spent the night on Angel Island (a small island in the San Francisco Bay). My friends and I hiked to the highest point on the island. We sat there as the sun set on a panoramic view of the bay. The lights of the city were reflecting across the water. It was truly breathtaking.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've traveled extensively within the US, so I could give great advice on where to visit if you are coming state-side. I also would love to share recipes.

As far as learning. . . everything. I absolutely love hearing other people's experiences. I'd definitely like to learn about the culture and history of wherever I'm visiting.
