ABOUT ME

We are Kate and Mark!

We like to feed people homemade sauerkraut. We love traveling together and having life adventures! We have been married for 5 years.

We recently moved to Iowa City from New Mexico.

We have two awesome cats. We used to have pet chickens, but moved across the country and had to give them away.

We truly enjoy meeting new people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just getting started here, but we can't wait to host our first surfer and surf ourselves.

Our past travels involved a lot of camping and month long road trips here in the US. We've also traveled some of Europe, Mexico, and Asia. When not camping, we often found ourselves in hotels or hostels, which was fine. Now we are looking for a more unique travel experience that suits our personalities better and allows us to meet interesting people. We also want to share our home/town with others!

Kate: I love gardening, playing banjo-ukulele, brewing, cooking, singing, traveling, hiking, kayaking, eating well, and adventuring.

Mark: I love reading books, making things, traveling, laughing, coffee, beer, scientific discovery/research, being healthy, music, kayaking, hiking and having experiences/adventures.

Kate: Anything and everything I've experienced in nature. Like swimming with a manatee, scuba diving, or hiking a mountain.

Mark: Underground river in a cave with 30 foot waterfall. And Scuba diving of course.

We have much to teach/share. In general, most people we know/meet want to know how to make our fermented sauerkraut. Kate used to teach backyard chicken keeping classes on the side, and knows quite a bit about the topic. Mark often gets asked a lot about computers, the human brain, and his job at the hospital, and he tends to change the subject.

We love learning new things from others.
