Hi! I'm Kate. I'm originally from NY but life has taken to many different places. I've lived in the Caribbean, Johannesburg South Africa and now I'm in London. I love to meet new people and my home is always full of adventure and life.

I'm a marketing/PR professional by day but my true passion is storytelling and writing. I was born in West Virginia, grew up in NY state (but not New York City;)). I have 3 younger sisters and 2 wonderful parents. I am naturally a very curious person and I love to listen to other people tell their stories.

I usually travel with my partner, Matthew, who is from the sweet island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. He is studying to be a lawyer and is VERY passionate about football (soccer). He is also a lot of fun and interesting to be around (and I'm not just saying that lol)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to meet new people. So far I've met amazing couchsurfers that have stayed with me and also friends of mine - people from Austria, Germany, and more. It's so much fun to spend time with them and learn from them.

I think spending time with people from other countries the best way to experience the world. My hope (whether it's hosting or being a guest) is that we're not the same people we were before we met each other, and that we can both have a story or a great memory!

It's easy to say that I'm interested in everything. I don't think I've experienced enough in life to say that I like to do 1 thing more than anything else.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love so many different types of music, movies and books. I don't have a preference and it would be too much to write here :-) But if you ask, I'll be happy to tell.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done a couple of cool things:
1. In Cape Town I jumped off a hill and para-glided down to the bottom - it's not that interesting but I had fun.
2. I made my first Thanksgiving dinner for my friends this year - it's harder than it looks on YouTube :-)
3. In Zimbabwe me and a couple of friends escaped from an armed guard in front of Mugabe's house, hitchhiked with a strange man who gave us homemade beer and nearly missed our flight out by a few minutes... that was fun!
4. In Lesotho, we accidentally drove through a herd of cows in the middle of the night and actually hit one, smashing the glass. - not that interesting but we nearly totaled the car and I saw my life flash before my eyes for a few seconds lol (the cow was ok!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to wine (Trinidad dance), how to make a meannn plate of mashed potatoes, how to roll dreadlocks (if you want them) and so much more random things!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully good memories, stories, food and good company. I am not someone who leaves my stuff at your house and leaves. That is not what CS is about! One thing you will learn is that I am a very open, honest, curious and friendly person. I want to spend time with you and learn from you. And one day I hope to be able to host you in return when you visit where I live!
