ABOUT ME

I'm a 24-year-old writer/traveler/perpetual starving artist who's always up for the next adventure! I'm a pretty balanced person, and am just as comfortable in a room full of people as I am spending a quiet night in. I love meeting new and interesting people and experiencing new places!

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is to embrace wonder and wanderlust. To surround myself with people who inspire me. To preach--and practice--love instead of tolerance. Dream. Explore. Create. Read books, go to plays, tip generously. Have opinions, make choices. Meet new people, and listen to them, and learn from them. To find joy in small moments and in big ones.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I'm an avid traveler and I would much rather meet new people and experience the local culture than stay in a hotel. I believe in communal living and in learning as much as possible about other people, places, and cultures. Also I live on a bookseller's salary. :) When I have a bigger apartment I'd love to pay it forward and host travelers as well!

Intereses

I love to be outdoors--I spend a lot of my time skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and camping. I'm also passionate about music, and have studied piano, voice, and music composition for many years. I'm play ukulele and am learning guitar and mountain dulcimer right now. I'm a big reader and enjoy learning new things and having intelligent discussions with others.

Música, películas y libros

I work at a bookshop, so I have a wide range of literary interests (I read everything!). My all-time favorites are The Hobbit, Desert Solitaire by Ed Abbey, and When Women Were Birds by Terry Tempest Williams. Lately I've been reading a lot of poetry as well as books on sociology/environmentalism.

I love all kinds of movies and music. I'm into indie folk sounds right now (Ben Howard, James Bay, Passenger, Dermot Kennedy), but also still can't stop listening to DAMN. and am loving Tyler, the Creator's new album. I have a very nostalgic love for classic rock, especially Led Zeppelin. I was an acting major in college so I love talking about movies, from tiny indie films to blockbuster superhero movies and everything in between!

What I love most about movies, music, and books is discussing how they tie in to our culture. I love talking about the purpose of art and how art affects people.

I love conversation and am happy to give hosts an opportunity to practice speaking English! Sometimes I bring my ukulele with me on my travels, so I'm happy to play music and sing for you--if you play music, we can jam together :) and I'm also a pretty good cook and always willing to lend a hand in the kitchen (either helping with food prep or just cleaning up, whatever you need).
