Overview
About Me
I am traveling the world to learn about the beautiful and terrible ideas we have around poverty alleviation, housing equality and urban development. Along the way, I am also learning about beekeeping, immigration, history and the joys of sharing new homes. I am a New York native, who studied science and philosophy in Boston, Massachusetts and worked in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a high school chemistry and environmental science teacher. Most of my students in Milwaukee were recent immigrants from Mexico and they pushed me to push myself. So, I am traveling, learning and hopefully living up to my student's expectations. I am excited to meet you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am excited about the world and want to give back for all that I have received. I am taking this year to travel the world with my partner Andrew Hayes.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have met many books that I loved, many that I hate and many in between. However, I have never met a book I would not give a chance. My current non-fiction favorite is Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, by Matthew Desmond. My fictional favorites are American War by Omar El Akkad and Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions by Edwin Abbott Abbott.
I am rather promiscuous in my music listening habits. Any genre or language works as long as it is happy music that I can sing and dance along to!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Everything related to my students and my community! Ask me about it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you vegan baking, canning, construction, gardening, chemical analysis, or how to plate some cells.
I would love to learn about your culture, language and history.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I like to cook (vegetarian) and bake. I love gardening and am handy around the house with small construction projects.
