Overview
About Me
So, let's get to know each other. My name is Katerina, I'm 22 years old and I'm a psychology student. It's my second year since I moved to England.
I have been travelling for 4 years now and my particular passion is the mountains. But apart from that, I am very fond of hiking and backpacking, also I have spent a long time travelling almost exclusively by hitchhiking.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The 3 main reasons for which I travel probably will not sound very unusual, but nevertheless, this motivation is usually more than enough to periodically pick up an old 36-liter Osprey, load up the camera and go somewhere in the unknown direction
Firstly, it's the people, of course. Because I believe that travel is largely about connecting cultures, breaking free of entrenched stereotypes, sharing experiences and simply having a great time with interesting people.
Secondly, it is an experience itself. Every journey is about learning about yourself, learning new skills, overcoming inner fears, and taking your life to a new level of awareness.
And finally, of course, there is photography. You can walk 30 km for a good shot, climb mountains, dive underwater, wake up in the middle of the night, freeze somewhere above the Arctic Circle, and much more. There's never enough for a photographer.

Music, Movies, and Books
Of course, what follows from my field of study, I am very fond of psychological and philosophical works. For example, authors such as Erich Fromm, Alfred Adler, Carlos Castaneda, Hermann Hesse, Marcus Aurelius and many others. I also love classic Russian literature, especially Fyodor Dostoevsky. And of course, it is difficult not to mention books about travelling which are an almost bottomless resource of motivation and inspiration for the exploration of new horizons and yet unknown corners of our beautiful planet.
In terms of music, I really like alternative rock, guitar songs and Latin music.
My favourite films would be Seven years in Tibet, Leon, Catch me if you can, Gatsby, Mimino and Into the wild
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It's very hard to judge myself, to be honest. But a few things I would say I am proud of are moving to another country and travelling on my own (because it was scary and even very scary at first)
Teach, Learn, Share
I think it's always a great idea to practise or discover new foreign languages. Cooking some interesting, especially traditional dishes (for six months now - cooking along with photography is my main hobby as well as a way to earn money, so I truly believe it could be a very interesting basis for some small projects or simply fun activities.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Apart from some funny travel stories, I hope that some of my skills listed above may be useful. For example, if my camera is with me I'd be happy to organise a small photoshoot or something like that. and of course, if needed any help around the house or garden or anything else I can be helpful with.
