About Me

Hey! My name is Katerina and I am Czech by origin, citizen of the world by heart. As a fresh graduate of International development studies, I am starting my career of development worker, or rather development and humanitarian project developer/manager in an international NGO based in Prague.

I'm open-minded, easygoing, fun-loving, creative, curious and active person who likes to be surrounded by people, but also to share time with myself time to time. I am trully in love with my life, people around me, travels and unexpected discoveries, beautiful nature all around, but I also appreciate modern and contemporary art, literature and theatre, good coffee and food (no lactose and eggs, please!) I am always doing my best to enjoy life as much as possible, get new experinces, try new things and above all, to meet new people and learn about their culture and lives!

My biggest dream is to travel all around the world, visit every country and learn about them as much as possible through meeting people and listening their stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling, meeting new people and discovering different cultures and CS not only makes it easier and more fun, but makes me fell like being a part of a "tribe". In short, I like CS idea because sharing is caring! :)

Interests

In my leisure I go running, do yoga, hiking, enjoy time spent in nature. I also like just hanging around and enjoying a glass of beer or wine with friends. I am very interested in art in all forms - architecture, paintings, sculptures (especially modern art), and I like going to theatre as well. Besides, I like cooking, experiment with new recipes and tastes and I am always ready to try something new.

From a"professional" point of view, the area I am interested in the most is political transformation, elections and participatory processes, regions of Middle East and the Balkans, small fair trade businesses and ecotourism... it may sound like a weird mixture, but it combines pretty well my interests and work :) Besides, I volunteer in NGO promoting sustainable and responsible way of living, and occasionally on some other events and projects which make sense and bring change and/or happiness to myself and other people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like practically all kinds of music - from Caribbean reggae, through rock, pop, world-music and different ethnic music to Russian classics... it depends on mood :)

Reading is really a relax for me. Besides fantasy and sci-fi literature, I like historical books and literature of fact. In my library you can find authors like Terry Pratchett, Ryszard Kapuściński, Gabriel García Márquez, George Orwell and in general authors writing about contemporary (and/or non-European) society.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have traveled and lived in a coffee-forest area in Ethiopia for few months in 2014 which was really a life-changing and eye-opening experience in many ways.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to learn everything about world cultures and life in different part of this beautiful planet. I love to learn how things are made and where they come from.

I can teach you how to make an origami crane, how to roast coffee or to cook some Czech, Ethiopian or Italian food.

I would be pleased to share my optimism and happiness, the stories from my travels and learning and unlearning experiences, or share food (as Ethiopians do it).
