ABOUT ME

I am a 23-year-old native North Dakotan who isn't close-minded to other ways of looking at the world. I've also done a bit of traveling with friends and alone.

PHILOSOPHY

"Wisdom isn't sitting on your ass on a mountain, doing nothing." - my old philosophy professor

I don't like the term "personal philosophy" (philosophy is a serious discipline, goddammit!), but I think it's okay to say that there is no intrinsic value, meaning, or purpose in life that can be proven through empiricism. The goal is to get to a level where you're so happy that you don't notice how happy you are. To do this, you have to care about yourself and about other people.

I've surfed twice and I've never hosted, but I'm open to it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with one host who was terrible and turned me off couchsurfing for a very long time and one who was excellent and I consider to be a friend.

I would like to use this to make new friends and have experiences more like the second one.

Interests

I like to read, write poems, take long walks, hang out with friends, meet new people, cook (I'm not great yet but I try), bake (I'm decent), go see bands, and sleep. I prefer to relax, but I'm also down to party.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I tried to walk across the entire island of Zakynthos because my phone charger broke. I made it almost the entire way before I cracked and let someone give me a ride.

I like to talk about ideas and tell stories, and I like being around people who like to do those things as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can talk at length about poetry, literature, philosophy, or what I think about American politics. I also really, really like rabbits and baking. I've been working as an English teacher, so I can also assist with that.
