Overview
About Me
Hey! I'm your friendly neighbourhood Canadian currently living in Lyon, France and occasionally traveling around. Unfortunately, I'm unable to host right now, but I'd love to meet up if anyone's passing through! :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people, I love travelling, and I love when the latter doesn't cost me an arm and a leg. Also, my favourite way to explore a new place is "like a local," so I'd love to be able to meet up with locals!
Interests
I love wandering around and discovering new places, and coffee culture is among my absolute favourite things. After dogs. And hockey. Yeah, let's unofficially make that a Top 3 list: Dogs, Hockey, Coffee Culture.
- dogs
- arts
- culture
- coffee
- pub crawls
- traveling
- guitar
- hockey
Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
I'm a big advocate for people being free to enjoy whatever music makes them happy (or whatever emotion they'd like to bring out) without feeling "judged" or categorized. That being said, I love Taylor Swift, Ben Howard, Paolo Nutini, Snow Patrol, One Direction, and I hold the country and jazz genres and musical theatre close to my heart.
Movies:
- Lord of the Rings
- The Holiday
- The Lion King
Idk, there's three, I like lots of movies
Books:
- Harry Potter, because I literally learned to read with it, and growing up with Harry taught me so much about life and I would not be the same person without these stories
- Libba Bray's A Great and Terrible Beauty (and its two following books), because I adored the sassy, headstrong female lead and I love LB's sense of humour and prose and also the pages were literally the softest I've ever felt. And I met her in NYC while she was dressed as a cow one time.
- Katie Heaney's Never Have I Ever, because I relate far too much to her journey, and I laughed and I cried and I think it's hilarious.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This one time along with some other lovely people, I sang the Chinese national anthem on The Great Wall and made a local woman cry with joy, that was pretty cool.
Teach, Learn, Share
If anyone is looking for a pub quiz partner, or just wants to observe a vat of useless knowledge in action, Im glad to oblige. I can also teach you every bone in your hand (if you're lucky, maybe even every bone in the human body #whoaaa!). I think I'm also pretty good at explaining/helping people with English.
And I'm pretty good at novice latte art!
I'm currently working on learning French, but I love learning new things in general! Two things I've been meaning to work on: playing the guitar, and mastering different kinds of braids.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I make really good roasted vegetables and sweet potato fries, so there's that.
