About Me

A passionate, optimistic person whose favorite thing is to see the world.

I am still trying to figure out how to make money from traveling, but until then I am pursuing a career in theatre, specifically in theatre for special audiences.

My main focus is on producing theatre for children with autism. For most children with autism, a theatrical performance can be very stressful. So in recent years, artists and doctors have been developing ways to produce theatre that is not triggering to those with autism, like including trigger warnings for loud noises and light flashes.

This is very important to me because I know how much the arts helped me as a child and it makes me sad to think others are barred from experiencing live theatre because it is too stressful. So I have focused my future career on helping make performing arts accessible to everyone.

When I am not in the theatre, I am either in the library, enjoying a good time with friends, or engaged in some kind of social action. Social justice is very important to me, so I am constantly looking for ways to help those who need it or to raise awareness for a cause or issue.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am spending Fall 2017 studying abroad. I specifically scheduled my classes so that I would always have four day weekends so that I could make the most out of being in Europe and get to see as many wonderful places as possible.

I liked the idea of Couch Surfing across Europe because then not only do I get to see new places, but I get to meet and have fun experiences with new people. Plus, it never hurts to know someone who speaks the local language.

I know the amount of time that each host has to spend with their guest varies, but I think even just getting to grab a drink with a local is a really cool experience that you wouldn't get with an Air BnB or a hotel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I am a theatre nerd so I love musicals, but I also love songwriters like Adele or Sam Smith or Chance the Rapper. I think of music as poetry, so I look for music with beautiful language. I don't really prefer one particular genre, it really just depends on the song.

Movies: I'm not a huge movie person, I am more into TV. But I do have a fondness for The Breakfast Club. I also love anything directed by Joss Whedon or Baz Luhrmann.

TV: I love Sherlock, House of Cards, How I Met Your Mother, Scandal, Doctor Who, Saturday Night Live, and Friends

Books: I am such a book nerd, there pretty much isn't anything I don't love. I have a fondness for the classics, as well as John Steinbeck and Khaled Hosseini.

What I Can Share with Hosts

When I show up, I probably wont have much more than the clothes on my back and what I could shove into a backpack.

But what I would love more than anything is to get to meet and spend time with people from all over the world. So I can offer a dinner or a drink and some good company, if you're willing and wanting to hang out with a spunky American.
