Présentation
À propos de moi
CURRENT MISSION
spreading US culture in a non-imperialist way by baking my favorite cookies for my students and any other Spanish person I meet
ABOUT ME
I think my friends would say I'm quirky, cheerful, and sincere. While I am passionate and have firm opinions, I love to open up to new ideas and to debate issues on friendly terms. I love making new friends and just learning about peoples' differing experiences in the world!
PHILOSOPHY
"Heart, have no pity on this house of bone:
Shake it with dancing, break it down with joy.
No man holds mortgage on it; it is your own;
To give, to sell at auction, to destroy..." ~Edna St. Vincent Millay
Centres d'intérêt
I love to travel - particularly love roaming new cities. My favorite way to discover a new city is to wander with the outline of a day in my mind and let myself stumble on new streets, sights, and restaurants.
I love living in Spain because I'm able to speak a language that I love (Spanish) much of the time while enjoying a cultural exchange at work, outside the classroom, and in travels in Spain and in Europe! I'm really passionate about migration, borders, and thinking about basic human rights in relation to those things.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
lately I've been listening to a lot of The Lovely Sparrows, Ray LaMontagne, Alicia Keys, Mumford & Sons, Beach House, Tracy Chapman, The Head & the Heart, Avalanche City, The Tallest Man in the World, Sunset Rubdown, and The Boss.
I'm never really up on the latest movies, but I love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Visitor, Lost in Translation, quirky comedies, documentaries that successfully make me deeply concerned about whatever issue they tackle, and films that make me nostalgic for childhood.
Currently reading The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness (Michelle Alexander).
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
Touring a silver mine in Potosi, Bolivia was one of the most terrifying and moving things I have ever done. Staring at Vatican City from atop St. Peter's Basilica in Rome was less terrifying, but still awe-inspiring. Driving on Interstate 10 in South Texas on a cross-country trip as dusk began to fall in mid-July, the open horizon made me feel (like the world was) endless.
