About Me

Hi everyone!

I'm Kathi, 29 years old and from the beautiful South of Germany. I used to be a corporate nut working for a big company. Then I got fed up with it, so I quit and started to travel. I spent some time in Ireland, then went to Australia for a few months. Right now I'm back in Germany and since I also gave up my apartment I'm surfing my friends' couches who are generous enough to take turns and give me shelter ;-). So I thought, hey, why not extend my couch network and meet some new people? That's why I'm here. I hope to see some new places around Europe and make some friends along the way. I'm friendly, open minded and can make traditional German "Käsespätzle" for you in exchange for hosting me. Also, I promise to host you guys as soon as I have a place of my own with a comfy couch to offer again!

See you soon,
Kathi

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I like the idea of a community based on sharing.. from a spot to sleep on to culture, ideas, experiences. Don't worry, though, I'm not looking for a free tour guide or a baby sitter, I'm perfectly able to explore places on my own, I'm just curious about this way of traveling ;-).

Interests

I bought a ukulele last summer, which became my best travel buddy, and I'm doing my best to keep learning and improving. What else... I'm always looking for inspiration, I started writing stories lately and sometimes I fool myself into thinking I can write a song. They won't win a Grammy so far, but it's fun to try ;). Also, I'm quite outdoorsy. I love camping (although I'm not an expert, yet) and hiking and being around animals.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I went to Ireland last year, I tried 'workaway' for the first time, which means I got to stay with host families in exchange for a bit of help. My second stop brought me into this remote valley in the stunning south west in Co. Kerry, a ridiculously magical place surrounded by waterfalls, lakes and mountains. Seriously, if you met a Leprechaun riding a unicorn around there, you wouldn't even be surprised... I went there to help minding the family's two small children, three and five years old, and I originally meant to stay only for six weeks. I couldn't really imagine I might enjoy baby sitting out in the middle of nowhere. And I ended up staying for almost four months - that's how much I fell in love with the place and the people (especially the little ones). Maybe, this doesn't sound super amazing to you, but see, I was overwhelmed, because I surprised myself - I had no idea I could become part of a family I've never even met before that easily, I had no idea I'm that good with kids and I had no idea that I love the outdoors that much. This is why I love workaway and what I'm hoping to find with couchsurfing, as well: It brings you to random places, and makes you find out the most unexpected things about yourself and the world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to find someone to play some music together, have a chat, maybe a glass of wine. I have a few stories to tell and I'm even more excited for yours!
