My name is Kathi and I have lived in Washington for 1 year .

Living and working abroad is a great opportunity to explore, travel and get to know new cultures and personalities. Even if there are some bad days (but everybody has those I assume) I would never regret my decision of living abroad. Furthermore I am very positive. I try to always cheer me up, there is always something to be happy about in life.
Originally, I am from Austria. It`s a beautiful country in the heart of Europe surrounded by the Alps. Austria has so much to offer. There are great lakes to go for a swim in summer, lots of awesome places for Wintersports and last but not least beautiful cities to explore like Vienna or Salzburg.

I am a small-town girl if you want to call it like this. I grew up in a small town, where everybody knows each other on the countryside. I love to be surrounded by helpful people as much as I like to get to know new ones.
I grew up on a farm - that means I am very nature-loving (I love hiking and all kinds of outdoor sports/activities) person who is in love with animals.

Currently I am student and I want to become a primary school teacher. Therefore I study a semester abroad in Lisboa, Portugal right now. I enjoy travelling, learning new languages and Meeting popularities from all over the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I haven`t done Couchsurfing before, but a lot of friends recommended it to me. If I would have my own place I`d love to offer it to other people. In this way you can share stories, experiences and ideas.

I love the idea that people offer their homes to foreign people as an act of kindness. You can learn so much from others, you can listen to awesome stories, tell something about your experiences and most of all you get to know new places shown by locals.

Interests

There is so much I am into, but even more I want to try out one day.
Adventure is my passion. I love to get some new experiences, when there appears a daily - routine I get bored really quickly.

I tried all kinds of sports (stand-up paddling, kickboxing, horseback riding, climbing, bungee jumping) but I always come back to the good old ones like I am totally into hiking, skiing, running and biking.
I love to explore new places and get to know new people. I just love to listen to stories about all kind of experiences.

On some days I just enjoy reading a book or go to the movies (There is no specific type I prefer, I try out all different kinds but I haven`t found my most favorite type yet).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I am very adventurous and love risks, I have been bungee jumping twice and paragliding once. Skydiving is still on my list and I hope I`ll come to it soon.

I love cooking and baking and wouldn`t mind to create a tasty Austrian meal for you. If there is anything to help you with I would be pleased to support you and coming up for the costs for food isn`t any issue for me.
