About Me
Hi, I`m Katharina, but call me Kat :)
I studied product design in Maastricht(NL) and had great experiences couchsurfing in the U.S., Australia and Viet Nam.
I like
hanging out with friends and strangers, going to underground clubs, concerts and bars, going for a spontaneous bikeride in a city i don't know and generally having a good time
I am
a creative thinker, reader, ilustrator and creator, sucker for photography, old books and movies, can get enthusiastic about anything and everything and love adventures!
Happy about any recommendations always up to hang out :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
..does wanting to explore the world & meet people sound too simple of an answer? Exchanging ideas, inspiring each other, learning a few words or a whole language, one recipe or dive into the entire cuisine, see one band.. there's always something to see, learn and share
Interests
Music -i will go along to any kind of concert just to check out if this band might be my new favorite, art- it's not necessarily a canvas and a pretty landscape, art is messy and sometimes ugly, literature- can't get enough of books, travel- nothing better than stuffing some things in a backpack and just going for it, hiking- being completely exhausted but rewarded by the sight from the summit, cooking- experiencing a different culture through your taste buds...sharing- really is caring, because each experience is only made special by the people you share it with

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching the blood moon rise on the rooftop of a cabin in the middle of the woods close enough to the coast to hear the waves of the Atlantic crash
Taking a bike ride through the forest to get to the Atlantic and wade into it being filled with jellyfish that light up when you touch them
Being part of a crazy fashionshow on a Dutch dam at the coast, wearing non-dam-compatible heels & a dress inspired by a tornado (shape size and a whole lot of fabric) and not falling
Biking through downtown L.A. during rush-hour, kinda crashing a Mexican street festival and ending up at a gallery/store opening meeting one of my all-time favorite illustrators in person
Camping on K'gari, having to carry a Dingo stick and getting a bug stuck in my ear, swimming in teatreeoil infused waters, floating down Eli Creek and generally just being completely blown away by the beauty of this island
(Showing off all these experiences to underline how well travelled I am is definitely not supposed to be on that list.. but hey, thanks for making me realize how pretentious all of this sounds listed like that Couchsurfing!)
What I Can Share with Hosts
My improvised cooking skills and my enthusiasm for adventures, as well as traveling stories told with impressions varying from a muppet to an 80year old man, as well as a 100% chance to have me sing bohemian rhapsody at some point, happy to share some German words (apart from the swearwords everyone knows) explaining why our beer is definitely better than yours. PB&J is short for pizza beer and jokes in my universe, also the queen of stupid references and puns, so brace yourself!
