About Me
Hi,
I'm Kathi, 24 years old and a devoted university student of philosophy and comparative literature. For three years I've been teaching German and English online. The enthusiasm about that is, let's say, currently fluctuating.
I've taken a lengthy break from couchsurfing, studied abroad for two semesters and are back in town to finish my studies. I'm currently writing my bachelor thesis about the tension between capitalist ethics and a practical approach to religion during the industrial revolution in 19th century English literature.
Usually I'd ramble on about how I like to read, paint, go for walks in nature and conjure shelves into existence by means of my limited macramé skills. These days I'm mostly busy writing my thesis though. It's a bit of a vicious cycle, but I enjoy learning things I didn't know.
Other than that, I often lose myself in a maze of thoughts, arranging and rearranging the flotsam and jetsam in my mind. Sometimes it takes the shape of a poem and goes onto my haiku wall. Yes, I have some wall space designated for poems :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I feel like the community has changed a lot since the emergence of covid, but I'm still here for the same reasons. I want to open my mind, heart and home to others and hope to be accepted into theirs in a world where nuance is in short supply, cultural education is more important than ever and capitalism is working hard to sever our connections based on kindness and curiousity.

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC
Lately 80's pop, psytrance, indie and heavy metal - Kae Tempest has a special place in my heart
BOOKS
I love almost every book I read based on its own merits and intentions. Does that make me a reverse sociopath? XD
Among my favs are Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, Nelson's Bluets and Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Hamlet, and Macbeth
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Apart from the quest of getting up every morning, finishing my first Wikipedia article for the "Women in Red" project
Teach, Learn, Share
Poems, languages, ideas, dancing, food. I've learned that leaving it open to surprises is the best of all
What I Can Share with Hosts
As I don't want to be a burden on anyone, I can help with household chores if needed. Whenever I travel, I take my notebook with me. I'd love to read one or two of my poems to you.
