hello! my name is katharina. i am an architectural designer with a passion for food, new experiences, and travel.

i work remote so i decided to give up my apartment, sell most of my belongings, and travel to a different city every month. i started in july 2022 in mexico city and am very excited for this new adventure and way of living.

though i work monday-friday, after work/on the weekends i enjoy listening to live music, going for runs, geeking out over art/museums/cool buildings in general, cooking, a cold beer or glass of wine, and i am trying to learn spanish.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

in my opinion, people are what make a place special. i have hosted many over the years (mostly friends/friends of friends or through word-of-mouth) and have traveled the world in the same fashion. what better way to learn a place than by experiencing it with someone who lives there?

Music, Movies, and Books

my taste in music is quite varied; i enjoy classical to country to chinese love songs, jazz, edm, bossa nova, the blues. i sometimes sing and i can pick out a tune on a piano (slowly).

not big on movies or television. i stare at a screen all day for work so the last thing i want to do is stare at a screen in my free time.

i love to read and have recently become obsessed with podcasts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i've had plenty of incredible adventures over the years, but here are some of my favorite memories:

1. my friends and i rode our motorcycles 900 miles from where we were living in northeast china to where the borders of china, mongolia and russia meet.
2. i taught a random stranger to ride a dirtbike and convinced him to ride around laos with me for a week.
3. i took my dog on a month long roadtrip from one side of the US to the other (twice).
4. currently living out of a suitcase and i have no plans on stopping anytime soon :)
