About Me

Currently on an interrail trip through the Balkans to Turkey and back with my friend Jasmin!

Update:
the text below I wrote in 2020 while staying in India. Just in time before lockdown started we returned to Germany and later the same year I started an apprenticeship (kinda licensed training :D) as a vegetable gardener on a farm. Since summer 2022 I'm done!
Now studying a university course called human and environment in the beautiful small town of Landau.

Since I can remember, I'm interested in meeting people, no matter where they're from, what they look like, what they're doing to make a living. As a kid I would just walk around wherever I was and start a conversation with the people I found, never afraid to ask my unsophisticated and greenly questions. Today, I still got that curiosity about strangers and I love to interact with people from different cultures, learning about their way of life and their philosophy of happiness. Currently I'm travelling around India with a close friend, with whom I completed a volonteering service in Kotagiri in the south-indian state Tamil Nadu before (if you want more information, visit our blog katharindia.blogspot.com our contact me :). On this journey we would love to meet as many loclas as possible to make our travel be more than just a tourist trip.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I only got really introduced to cousurfing while I was already staying in India, so I didn't get the chance yet to host somenone. Still, I knew about this site for probably a couple of years but I never really considered of becoming a part of it. A few weeks ago I was reading about people who travel across different countrys with couchsurfing and about their incredible stories. I got interessed and did some reseach, also reading about experienced couchsurfers on the official website. I decided that I have to join this amazing community and here I am! :)
The concept of hosting and getting hosted by locals while sharing your culture, your knowledge and your experiences is just super cool. It's a really good opportunity to get in touch with the places you travel that you would never get if you just stayed in an hotel.

I'm liking pretty much every music, even though not the greates fan of hardcore techno and the german "Schlager". I like realxed accoustic and folk, blues, jaz, chanson francophone, I love gospel and I enjoy classical music.
Favourites: Guardians of the Galaxy, Wise Guys, Zaz, Paul Izak, Queen, Outbreakband, Hillsong, Tracy Chapman, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Prateek Kuhad, Alicia Keys, Land of Trees, Stomp, Scot Joplin, Crosby Stills& Nash, the Lumineers, Simon& Garfunkel, Eros Ramazotti, Bukahara, John Lennon, Bob Dylan Jax, AnnenMayKantereit, Elisha Mbukwa, Olafur Arnalds, Tash Sultana, Tigran Hamasyan
In general, I'm always interessted in discovering music styles I didn't know before and learning how other people express themselve through music - no matter what kind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteering in India was defenitly a great experience. Our main task during our stay was to teach spoken english to primary and high school students. To work with these kids was amazing, seeing them making progess or simply having so much fun just playing and singing with them. Also, the opportunity to learn about the south indian culture while staying at a place for a longer time and getting in touch with the local people is someting I really enjoyed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I always like to learn some words in the local langauge, if there is a seperate script like in the Indian languages I'm also very interested in learning the basics in reading it if the time allowes. Apart from that, I like to hear from your experiences, espacially with couchsurfing as I'm quite new. If you can show me/ us your favourite place in your city that would be great!
Always open to cook together/ share food or good time with discussions about Gott und die Welt :D (literally god and the world, german way of saying all the world and his brother)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Interesting conversations, travel stories and hopefully some nice hours. If you're having any questions about Germany or one of the countries I visited or being interested in the language I would be lucky to help. If you want and if time allows I can also try to prepare a (german) dish (we got a habbit in preparing german pancakes for our hosts while in India :p).

Countries I’ve Visited
