Overview
About Me
Hello, we are Mirko and Kathi and we're traveling through Asia since November 2023.
Back at home in Germany, I (Kathi) am a Marketing and Communications Manager. My husband Mirko is a Sustainability Manager. At the moment I'm in a transition phase because I'm trying to find out my real purpose. I hope our journey will give my mind some space to figure it out :)
For us, traveling is not about how many countries we've visited, how many temples we've seen, how many beaches we've swum, how many mountains we've climbed - it's about the feeling of beeing at the right place at the right time, no matter how long it might be, and follow our heart.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Traveling gives experiences one cannot learn at school. For us it's a gift to be able to explore different countries, cultures and most of all meeting interesting people and getting inspired by them.
Interests
We love spending time in nature: watching animals in their biosphere regardless of whether in the jungle, mountains or underwater, it always fascinates us. We like hiking and riding a bike. The earth and it's inhabitants (humans, animals, plants) are very important to us. That's the reason we try to have the least impact on it.
Both of us are vegetarians and we love cooking (and eating) good food!
While Mirko is watching a formula 1 race, I enjoy reading a good book or watching a nice series. Also, I love doing yoga and since our stay in an ashram in India Mirko does as well!
I enjoy being creative and singing (not professionally :D). Since lately I'm learning how to play Ukulele.
One part of our journey is dedicated to mindfulness. While Mirko was already practicing Vipassana meditation in Germany I just completed my first 10 day course in the beginning of this year.

Books: Sapiens: A brief history of humankind (Yuval Noah Harari), Sophie's World (Jostein Gaarder), The perks of being a wallflower, Hedda Gabler
Movies/series: Lord of the Rings, The Pianist, Green Book, Schindler's List, Modern Family, Atypical, Forrest Gump, Downton Abbey
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Completing a free diving course and going down to 16m without air
Hiking around the South Korean island Jeju (about 400km) with our camping equipment
Spending one week with a nomadic family in Mongolia
Completing a 10-day Vipassana meditation course
Walking about 800km on the Camino de Santiago
Teach, Learn, Share
We can teach some German and talk about sustainability. I could give some basic instructions for playing piano :)
I'd love to learn a new language. But I can't decide which ome, haha.
Sharing stories of life and food :D
What I Can Share with Hosts
Talking and philosophizing, as we would say in Germany: "about god and the world", meaning: to talk about everything and anything.
Being silly (sometimes) and making people laugh!
