About Me

Hello WORLD!

I'm Katharina, 29 years old and since almost 10 years now, I've been living in beautiful HAMBURG.
I grew up in Neustadt in Holstein which is a small town up in the North. Directly located at the Baltic Sea. So if it suits you guys well, we could think about a daytrip to Neustadt or Lübeck which is also a nice town to visit. Lübeck ist worldwide know for the Niederegger marzipan and its very old historic city that has been announced by UNESCO to a member of the world heritage sites.

Since this year I'm working with teenagers/yound adults who have some difficulties at school or in the process of finding a job. As i know this problem quiet well, I really enjoy the work with the kids as they give you the best mirror for yourself. And sure they will give you smart and wise advices for life...

After school I spent two months in Barcelona where I started to learn Spanish. Back then I moved to Hamburg where I started my first apprenticeship in the trading business which was a big fail. I quit my job and switched to the hospitality industry where I made my apprenticeship as a hotel specialits. That was the best decision at that point in my life. I learned a lot about human beings, enjoyed the daily exchange with other cultures and characters. It has become something like my passion to interact with people, make them feel home, have funny and deep conversations with humans at the same time.
For me it's the most beautiful compliment to put a smile on somebodys' face and make them feel comfortable.
After some time being in the payroll it was time for a little break.
So in 2015 I decided for some digital detox and did the hike on the Camino de Santiago.
800 km, many more blisters but so much great meetings and spiritual experiences.
Between ourselves: I havn't find all the answers for sure but as far as I know it's not about achieving the goal. It is more about walking all the way and keep open for the nice paths alongside. :-)

After the camino I studied Management at the Hotel School in Hamburg for two more years but I never worked in that field again. I found it more inspiring to travel a bit through South Africa and did some Work Away which was really really good! :-)

I made another trainee at a winery in South Germany last year and helped harvesting grapes and prepare all the stuff for the wine making. Tough work!!!

So life is a journey and there is so much more to discover in every way.
Once I've learned from an African quote is this:

"Wenn du schnell gehen willst, dann gehe alleine. Wenn du weit gehen willst, dann mußt du mit anderen zusammen gehen."

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, then you have to go with others."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, then you have to go with others."
