About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find a place I'd like to call home

ABOUT ME

I love to travel to new countries and cities (or to come back to the ones I really liked), discovering other cultures, people and languages.

Just returned from a five month trip around Southeast Asia and Australia late June, so for now it's all about enjoying summer in Europe and finding a job.

Some random things about me:
I prefer summer over winter. Actually I pretty much hate winter (they grey, ugly part of it). I like snow though. In December. And oh how I love Christmas markets! And hot wine. And sausages. God I love being at home during the Advent season.
I'm very impatient with electronic devices. Humans are allowed to make mistakes - machines are not.
Green is my favourite colour.
I suffer from current wanderlust. There's still so much to see, my list of 'countries I want to go to' would be endless.
I'm a big fan of sarcasm.
I love being on a beach and looking at the sea, however, swimming in it is not my favourite thing in the world. It's so big and dark and unknown once go further in...
I watched all Friends episodes more than three times already and they still make me laugh.
Huge fear of spiders.
I'm lactose-intolerant and there are not many things in this world that upset me as much as someone saying that I'm following such a "trend".
Mosquitos love me. I remember reading that it's not for the sweet blood but I'm sure that in my case it is.
Is there anything better than a good siesta?
I get really cranky when I'm hungry. Just sayin'.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had an awesome first couchsurfing experience in Valencia with a Dutch girl who hosted me for a few days and became a very important person to me during our stay in Spain and even now that we're apart.

I found a flat in Valencia (not only a flat but THE most amazing flat with the sweetest flatmates ever) thanks to Couchsurfing.org.

Thanks to many Couchsurfing meetings and trips back in Valencia I met some very beautiful people and I'm glad that I found some true friends amongst them.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
Everything from drama to comedy. Preferably the original language version. Can't do horror movies, I seriously won't sleep for weeks.

Music:
When going out I want the music to be danceable. My description of that is everything from pop, rnb, mainstream, dancehall, indie, ska, electro, house, techhouse, oldies to raeggeton, salsa and merengue. Mash-ups are probably my fav. Let's sum it up: under the influence of alcohol usually like pretty much everything, techno and metal apart.
When I simply want to have a good time (without necessarily dancing until 5am) I greatly enjoy live music, especially if it includes a beautiful voice, a guitar and/ or a piano.

Books:
I love when books mess with your mind, when you feel like getting to know the characters as if they were your friends, books that make you laugh and sob.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living and studying in the beautiful cities of Valencia and Budapest for one semestre each, being adopted in a Costa Rican family and experiencing what pura vida is all about, canopying in Monteverde (Costa Rica), seeing the Alhambra in Granada, going wild at Sziget festival, waking up on a boat in Halong Bay, Angkor Wat at dawn, the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan, being able to see the Milky Way and biolumiscent plankton glowing blue in the waves washing up on Gili Trawangan...

Teach, Learn, Share

Education is a never-ending process. History, arts, cultures, geography, politics, cooking, instruments, languages...
Currently I'm particularly interested in improving my dancing and language skills. I'd like to do Yoga and any form of kick boxing and self defence, learn how to cook properly (unfortunately I have the habit of already being hungry when I start cooking so my meals are usually fast and simple)...

I am hung up on perfectionism when it comes to my own language skills, however, I am very patient with others. The reason for that is probably that I wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, helped kids with their homework etc in German, English and French in high school and taught English during two months of voluntary work in Costa Rica. I ended up studying something very different but luckily never came to regret that decision.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Denmark, Egypt, France, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Netherlands, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
