I'm a British junior doctor taking a couple of years out of training to see the world and do some voluntary work along the way.
Right now I'm living in the Dominican Republic where I am lucky enough to spend my days volunteering in local clinics and learning Spanish.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I love meeting fellow travellers, hearing their stories and learning more about the world. Having given up my full time job in order to travel and do voluntary work abroad, I'm living on a tight budget at present.
I hope I can repay the kindness by becoming a host when I am settled in my own place in the future.

Intereses

Travel, of course! This year I have backpacked from Panama to Mexico before landing in the Dominican Republic for the summer. I'm already starting to think of next year's big adventure. Currently it's a toss up between South America, where I would hope to keep up my newly learnt Spanish, or eating my way across Asia.

Whether away travelling or just at home, I'm happiest when I'm outdoors and preferably in water. I love swimming and try to go everyday. I also enjoy cycling, walking in the countryside, skiing, diving...pretty much every sport.

Finally, I love good food. I will try almost anything.

Música, películas y libros

The silver lining of every long bus journey is definitely the opportunity to read for several hours without distraction. Harry Potter will always be one of my favourites but I also love classics like Pride and Prejudice and autobiographies of my heroes, such as Dame Ellen MacArthur's Taking on The World. Right now I'm reading Rutherford's story of New York in preparation for my trip there.

I don't watch a huge amount of TV or many films. When I get home from this trip I am most looking forward to seeing Despicable Me 3!

Music-wise, I like mostly British artists like Adele, Paolo Nutini, Amy Winehouse and George Ezra.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I've seen plenty of amazing sights on my travels and been lucky enough to hike through jungles and up volcanos, scuba dive with sharks and dolphins, explore caves and ancient temples, jump out of a plane and bungee off a bridge....But the best experience I've had is probably working in the poor rural communities of the Dominican Republic providing free healthcare to people who otherwise wouldn't have access to it.

I can teach you to swim! I worked as a swimming teacher during college and uni and loved it. I can also teach you about the human body.

I'm always keen to learn, especially practical things, like how to cook a new dish or speak a few words of a different language.

I hope to share new experiences and with fellow CSs.
