About Me

Hey, I´m Katherine. Canadian living the good life in Mexico for the past 15 years. Loreto is home; I was away for almost 10 years, but now I'm back! I enjoy good food, exploring new places and discovering old ones too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is about community, connecting with people - isn´t that was makes life great? I want to meet adventurous, creative people and get to know different lifestyles. I love diversity and am fascinated by the countless parallel realities/upbringings/social-economic-geographic factors that exist around the world or even just in one city. Meeting people, sharing experiences and hearing stories is awesome!

Interests

Visual arts, gastronomy, things I can do with my hands (sewing, carpentry, gardening, etc.), agriculture. I´m not very athletic, but that doesn´t mean that I don't enjoy the outdoors! Hiking, biking and kayaking are great.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sea turtle tracking in the Sea of Cortez.
The experience was incredible, but one night stands out in particular:
2am in a small ¨panga¨ floating the ocean bringing in a net. It was a new moon and no light to be seen other than the stars. The horizon was invisible, sky seamlessly merging into dark water. Suddenly the ocean lit up beneath us, huge manta rays swooping, their wings lighting up with bioluminescent plankton. The ocean and sky seemed to switch places and the manta rays appeared as if they were flying, cloaked in light blue sparkles. It was a humbling and inspiring experience.
