About Me

It's always a bit of a process to sit down and write these, but it's the least I can do for someone letting me crash on their couch!

Being in nature, creating memories, caring for people, hearing peoples stories, public health and education are all big passions of mine. I'm also just a big goofball really.

I am the fourth out of six kids. I think I have like 26 first cousins or something ridiculous. My family always loved sitting around at dinner and talking about ideas. Both of my parents love love love history and I am lucky that we traveled growing up. Grew up in Snohomish Washington where we had alpacas and sheep and the whole kaboodle. Played lots of soccer, ran lots of cross country and was in every play and musical I could be in. My partner's name is Sean and we met at University. He's a gem.

After high school I spent some time backpacking in Europe and then volunteered and lived in India. Next I went to Western Washington University and studied Elementary Education, language, literacy and cultural studies. The worked through college as a caterer/mountaineering/backpacking guide/tour guide/private tutor/law firm clerk and all those jobs you work at and go to college. I did my student teaching in Wellington New Zealand, taught I Madison Wisconsin and am currently teaching 1st grade back in Seattle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love humanity and I believe it is important to connect with people. As a traveler, meeting people brings connection and grounding to the place you are at and as a host you are able to care for and look after people. Hearing peoples stories and learning about their lives is one of my favorite things. .
