About Me

I'm an easy-going single Mom with a 13 year old daughter and a cat. My daughter and I love to travel and have lots of experiences we could share about, if you're interested. We are also happy to just give you space if and when that's what you prefer. My daughter tends to be more reserved at first, but opens up with a little time.

We also love getting to know and making friends with people from all kinds of different backgrounds and cultures. We are currently both learning Japanese. I believe that travel and/or getting to know people from different walks of life is the best education. We all have stories to tell and to learn from. My daughter and I are very independent, so we'd also be happy just doing our own thing. Whatever works for you, most likely works for us. Either way, we look forward to meeting you.

Interests

My daughter enjoys drawing, acting, singing, fashion design, and all things artistic. We both enjoy photography, but need to get into it more with the right equipment. We are animal lovers and would be happy to love on any pets you may have. I grew up swimming and I still love it any time I get to the pool. I've even done some short triathlons. As you can see, I have done some extensive travel. My daughter has also been to Guatemala, Japan, Oregon, Nevada, North Carolina, Florida, and an awful lot of California. I have also traveled around the states from coast to coast. Our home time is small, but we get to neighboring towns/cities for day-trip vacations often.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been blessed to travel to a lot of places, many of them for volunteer service. However, the biggest culture shock I have had was when I spent a month in Nigeria helping to build part of a school with cinder blocks along with Nigerian volunteers. With water rarely running, we would fetch it from the well to have our baths out of the bucket and share with neighbors' buckets to wash and rince our clothes out of those buckets. However, when traveling, our host would specially heat up the water in the bucket over a fire just for me as their guest. They ate very little meat, but would get it at the open market where one person would have a dead animal just laying there without any refrigeration or being butchered, so the little meat chunks we ate were salt chunks to preserve it. There is so much I could tell you about it... just ask!
